InSTEDD

nSTEDD's mission is to harness the power of technology to improve collaboration for global health and humanitarian action. We are an innovation lab for tools designed to strengthen networks, build community resilience and improve early detection and response to major health-related events and natural or human-caused disasters. We grapple daily with the challenges of finding new approaches and new designs: a simple, reliable way to bring it all together -- the people, the tools and the data -- and create the kinds of information flow that we know will save lives. With new, free and open source technologies to help humanitarian and public health organizations around the world work together more effectively in crises, we can reduce mortality, accelerate recovery and help prepare communities to face the unexpected with confidence in their own resilience.

The Library Project: Home

The Library Project donates books and libraries to under financed schools and orphanages in the developing world. We believe education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the developing world. As we see it education is change.

We accomplish this by:

* Getting the local community involved through book drives and awareness raising
* Providing libraries to under financed orphanages and elementary schools
* Partnering with local NGOs (charities)

History Commons

The History Commons website is an experiment in open-content civic journalism. It provides a space for people to conduct grassroots-level investigations on any issue, providing the public with a useful tool to conduct oversight of government and private sector entities. It is collaborative and thus allows individuals to build upon the work of others. Each investigation is organized as a “project,” which is made up of at least one timeline. You can contribute to a project by adding new events to the timeline associated with that project. All submissions are peer-reviewed by other users before being published. If you would like to participate in this effort, you will first need to create a user account. Once you have done that, you can begin adding events to any timeline.
