My Own Books

My own books is a fantastic site for fostering reading skills and thus, English language acquisition. It was created by Anne Pemberton, a retired Special Ed. teacher and she has done a marvelous job.
Students simply chose a story they want to read. Then, they put in their own name and BINGO! The story is all about them! You can print or read on the screen with pictures to support comprehension. Really cool and I suggest students print these out and share their stories. A great way to create a classroom , personalized library!

Mad Libs Official Website » Fun Stuff

I just learned that Mad Libs, the classic creative word game, can be played online. The game that I played was Mad Libs for President. In the game I selected adjectives, nouns, and verbs from randomly generated lists. Had I not liked any of the words in the lists, I had the option of typing in my own word choices. When the Mad Lib was completed I could have printed the end result.

Essay Map

Essay Mapis an intuitive online essay planner for students.
Students do not to have sign up for an account or register an email address. They simply enter their first name and topic and away they go.
Students can move between screens as their ideas develop and become clearer.

The only downside is that essay maps cannot be saved. However, they can be printed out before exiting.
