SACRAMENTALITY: Transfiguration
"Our world is currently undergoing a metamorphosis, shapes and forms are changing. Sure, we can point to what we see with our eyes and know with our heads and point blame till we are blue in the face, but that will not change the mystical reality of what is happening. The witnesses of this event, that would be us, know that something really big is happening and many are terrified, which by the way is a normal reaction to a mystical experience. There are some running around trying to rationalize and figure out exactly what, how, and why this is happening. Others are desperately trying to figure out what to "do" to make it all better somehow. However, deep within my being I know beyond knowing that it is just for a time as this that we have been preparing for and that has absolutely nothing to do with our bank accounts. Instead it has everything to do with whether or not we are listening. "

"That is, I believe, the task of human life. That is our prayer that we may be allowed to appreciate what is. No longer at war with reality. No longer hoping to get through this life with your heart or your mind intact. But always singing.
December is the right time to raise our voices in songs of praise. It hardly matters what you can find to praise—the sunlight or an evergreen, candlelight or a potato latke, the harmony of the choir or the loveliness of a Christmas carol."

"A baby doesn't know to hide its light, they just glow. They aren't embarrassed that love pours indiscriminately through their being."

"This light was born into the world not to empower our prejudices, not to sanction our self-righteousness, but to burn away those things."
Sexuality and Religion: What's the Connection?: Chanukah 2008
"So, take a moment tonight, whether you celebrate Chanukah or not, to be thankful for religious freedom and diversity. Be thankful for the light returning to the earth -- and maybe to your soul. Be thankful for the reminder that a small group of people can change the world. Celebrate the miracle of your life and the lives of the people you love. Light the light within you and bring it into the world. So may it be."
Peg Duthie - UU projects
"At its best, Unitarian Universalism understands and acknowledges that different people need different things from God -- and from each other -- and that the Holy Spirit makes itself manifest in many different guises and voices."

Working on a post about the difference between spirituality and religion...afraid it's going to be a long one.
