Invisible Glove Keeps Your Hands Clean, Doesn't Hamper Dexterity - Weekend Projects - Lifehacker

  • I used this stuff about thirty years ago when I was working in a motorcycle shop. I wasn't all that impressed.

I would suggest, before you start on a dirty job, dig your fingernails into a bar of soft bar soap (like ivory), which will keep a lot of the grot from building up under them. Do this even if you're going to put on work or gardening gloves.

If your hands are dirty with petroleum products, use clean petroleum products to "wash" before you move to soap and water. (another poster mentioned this above - works)

Oh - and this stuff will absolutely not protect you from gasoline.

While I'm at it, I ran across a product called "scrubs" some years ago. Comes in a pop-up canister like baby wipes, but it's a very rough textured paper rag with orange-solvent based cleaner and lanolyn. About the only thing I've ever found that can get compounding clay (the stuff used to get the dirt out of auto paint before sealing it) off my hands. I usually wear gloves for that, but sometimes I forget.
