The post, authored by OJ Winge, senior vice president of Cisco's TelePresence Technology Group, states that Cisco will discontinue investment and development of the tablet, which we reviewed in February.

"... 95% of organizations surveyed allow employee-owned devices in some way, shape or form in the office, and, 36% of surveyed enterprises provide full support for employee-owned devices. These stats underscore a major shift in the way people are working, in the office, at home and on-the-go, a shift that will continue to gain momentum.

"Based on these market transitions, Cisco will no longer invest in the Cisco Cius tablet form factor, and no further enhancements will be made to the current Cius endpoint beyond what's available today. However, as we evaluate the market further, we will continue to offer Cius in a limited fashion to customers with specific needs or use cases," the post states.

Cisco will instead "double down" on software offerings like its Jabber and WebEx products for more popular tablets and smartphones supporting a variety of operating systems, the blog states.

Chronon DVR for Java
http://www.chrononsystems.com/
: “record entire execution of your Java app; play it back on any machine”. Other features: time-travelling debugger — step backwards, jump to any point in execution, designed for long running programs; post-execution logging — add log statements after the program has run, and see what it would have logged. Looks extremely nifty, but I wonder how big those recording files get…

SES and Lockheed Martin explored ways to attempt to bring the functioning satellite into its correct orbital position, and subsequently began attempting to move the satellite into geosynchronous orbit by means of a lunar flyby (as done a decade earlier with HGS-1). In April 2008, it was announced that this had been abandoned after it was discovered that Boeing held a patent[5] on the trajectory that would be required.[6] At the time, a lawsuit was ongoing between SES and Boeing, and Boeing refused to allow the trajectory to be used unless SES dropped its case.[6]

I think the reason well-intentioned programmers get irritated by the sudden rush of people like Mike Bloomberg who breathlessly exclaim that they're going to learn to program, is that it's disrespectful.

MobileScope is not installed on the mobile device. Think of MobileScope as a portal or a proxy server. You sign up on a web site and the portal runs in the background. You use an app and the portal watches what the app does, reporting on what information is sent and where. It also can restrict what is sent.

Kathie Nichols and Van Jacobson today published an article entitled ”Controlling Queue Delay” in the ACM Queue. which describes a new adaptive active queue management algorithm (AQM), called CoDel (pronounced “coddle”). The article will appear sometime this summer in the Communications of the ACM. Additionally, another independent adaptive AQM algorithm by other authors is also working its way through the academic publication cycle.

A working adaptive AQM algorithm is essential to any full solution  to bufferbloat. Existing AQM algorithms are inadequate, particularly in wireless with its very rapid changes in bandwidth.

Everyone working in networking, not just those interested in AQM systems, should read the article, as it dispels common misunderstandings about how TCP interacts with queuing.

CoDel (“coddle”) is a novel “no knobs”, “just works”, “handles variable bandwidth and RTT”, and simple AQM algorithm.
