The Blessed Hope
-
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he
appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. . . . How
great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called
children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know
us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and
what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,
we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this
hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

The Church Against The Rapture | GraceThruFaith
-
most believers have been lulled to sleep with no clue as to how close we are to the End of the Age. While prophecies that Christians have been anticipating for nearly 2000 years are being fulfilled right before their eyes, they’re more concerned about the long term mortgages on their homes and the interest free financing on their cars. Having sufficient retirement income far outweighs stockpiling treasure in heaven on their list of priorities. Their endless quest for bigger and better toys distracts them from the boredom of lives that have been rendered meaningless, without purpose. False teaching about the End Times has left them ignorant of the closeness of the Lord’s return and complacent about their faith. It has stolen their joy, quenched their spirit, and made them no better off spiritually than the unbelievers who surround us.
-
But while we sit around arguing about what it says, the world is falling apart and the time is getting short. The Lord’s coming back and 90% of the Church is distracted by the world and doesn’t have a clue it’s about to happen.
God said, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please … what I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.” (Isaiah 46:10-11) It’s not that He’s stopped performing on this promise, it’s just that most of the Church has stopped believing it and no longer expects it.

The Pathology of False Teachers
Second part of study booklet- Avoiding spiritual counterfeiters.
-
False teachers were rampant in the ancient world. From the beginning, Satan, the father of lies (John 8:44), rebelled against God and began teaching lies. Since then he has been spawning other liars to attack God's truth. Whether facing the false prophets of the Old Testament or the false teachers of the New, the people of God have had to continually do battle against lies and errors. Any church, pastor, or Christian who is not aware of that has his head in the sand. Our Lord said false Christs would come. And Scripture is replete with such warnings
-
The only way we can be protected against error is to know truth. False teachers will bring destructive heresies (2 Pet. 2:1) and teach hypocritical lies (1 Tim. 4:1). Those who recognize them are those who know the Word of God. The primary task of the shepherd is to feed the sheep a proper diet so they won't be tempted by the noxious, deadly weeds that grow on the fringes of their pasture.

What sense do you get of the times that are approaching when you read Matthew
24? Read it now. It is not just of foreboding because of the horror, but of
the glory before us. You and I are being called to the Church’s finest hour.
It is time to come out of the closet as Christians, to come out of the world, to
warn people, to preach the gospel, to be connected with one another. It is time
to forsake all distractions and ask the Lord to purify us and free us from the
power of the age. It is time to ask the Lord to open our eyes to prophecy, to
our true spiritual condition and the condition of the world and the church.
This is an Army you must volunteer for. God is calling you, but if you don’t
respond, He will move on to someone else. In Revelation 12:11, he declares of
the last days believer that “we overcame by the blood of the lamb, by
the word of our testimony and we loved not our lives even unto death.” The
“last days” Church will find its glory in martyrdom.

As Marvin Rosenthal says in his
book, The Prewrath Rapture, “It is impossible to effectively train an army
for a major battle if the soldiers are told they will never have to participate”.
(Rosenthal, op.cit., p.282) We should be careful that teachings we have held
as true really have a Scriptural basis. -
Timing is important in a more subtle way because it governs our attitude toward
the last days. The doctrine of a secret rapture is the perfect Laodicean
scam. I believe it has done more to lull the average Bible believing
evangelical to sleep than any other doctrine when it comes to prophecy. It
allows us to keep the good life and gives a false sense of security. We can
continue with life as usual and there is no need to plan for some apocalyptic
future because, we are comforted by the thought that we will rapture before
things get too tough. This is wishful thinking and escapism. Only in the
modern Western world, could we come up with this “have your cake and eat it to”
doctrine. For those who don’t believe us, don’t take our word for it. Just
read your Bible. - 6 more annotations...

The key characteristic of the early church was
mutuality--EVERY ONE participated in the building up of the other. Except for
special occasions, the meeting was a corporate experience. It was not dominated
by professional clergy, or a special music worship group and worship leader.
Each believer brought something to the meeting and was given the freedom to
share it with others through his own spiritual gift. The sermon was not the
center of worship. There was no bulletin listing the "order of worship" telling
you when to stand up, sit down, sing, pray or listen. Instead, the Spirit of God
was in utter control moving freely through every member of the Body. The phrase
"one another" is used 60 times in the New Testament. They were actively
involved in building up one another. This is far different than the so-called
lay ministries available today--ushering, singing in the Choir, cleaning the
"sanctuary", or flipping transparencies. The early church was a living
organism--the body of Christ--not an organization. -
Jesus was not establishing another religion,
but a vertical and horizontal relationship between Himself, the individual
Christian and the corporate body. The church is described in organic terms, and
when it is described as a building, it is described as a "living building." It
was distinguished because it was full of people who were in fellowship with
Jesus. That was the only glue that held the church together--a common life. For
nearly 300 hundred years, the Church met predominately in homes.

You may say I’m just another America basher. No, I just
realize that from God’s point of view, all the nations of the earth are in
Satan’s kingdom. Some may appear “better than others” whatever that means –
more free, more prosperous, but these are all the kingdoms of this world, not
the kingdoms of our Lord. Christians should not be affected one way or another
no matter where they live. In fact, Christians seem to be thriving in
repressive environments such as China, Africa and Indonesia than they are in
post-Christian Europe or so-called “Christian” America. I’m not an America
basher, nor an Iraq or Iran basher. I’m a stranger and a pilgrim, a citizen of
a heavenly city. -
If you are living in the spirit and following Jesus
and not loving your life, people will hate you. Other so-called Christians will
hate you. If you go the broad way”, you will be loved and accepted. But if you
stand as one whose citizenship and hope lie in another country, you will be
hated and delivered up. That is a promise. You can count on it. For those who
aren’t transformed, deception awaits them. And the verses above make it very
clear that “Christians” can be misled and turn against their own. Why would
they turn against us? Because we oppose the final move of God on the earth, the
great revival, the “Christianizing” of the heathen world and the government and
nation of God! - 1 more annotations...

We have gotten so far away from the true church, the simple body life, I doubt
that we will ever find it without a good dose of tribulation! Only when
we have been shaken free of our preconceptions, the world, our possessions and
our preoccupations and realize that it is all coming down – only then will we
get real and discover the treasure that lies within the least of the saints, and
let it be set free! Only when our organizations, programs and professionals
have been exposed for the sham they are, will the body be free to be the body
Christ intended where every member functions according to the life worked into
it by the Lord. -
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets and some as evangelists
and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work
of services, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to
the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man,
to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves,
and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by
craftiness in deceitful scheming;
But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him,
who is the head, even Christ,
From whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every
joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes
the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. (Ephesians
3:11-16) - 1 more annotations...

There is one more thing we should notice about the Church in Laodicea. In the
catholic and protestant churches, the pastor and priest typically ruled the
laity with an iron fist. There was no argument. Remember the Nicolaitans
where the clergy ruled the laity? Now we have “Laodicea” which means rule
by the laity! The typical “evangelical” church today is ruled by a Board
of some type (deacons, elders, etc.). The average pastor serves at the
pleasure of the Board. If the church needs a pastor, a search committee
interviews potential pastors, has them come in and audition (by preaching at
the church) and then there is a vote – usually by the full church membership.
If the pastor alienates enough of the church, they are removed by vote and a
new search begins. This is so far from the Biblical model, it isn’t even
worth defending. But the result of the new “democratic” laity-controlled
church, you have people gathering teachers who will “itch their ears” as
quoted in the II Timothy passage at the beginning of this chapter.

“For such are
false prophets, deceitful workers, transforming themselves in the apostles of
Christ. And no wonder; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
(II Corinthians 11:13-14)
Phil Arms says it well, “It should not surprise us in days ahead when we
discover that some of the most prominent, sought-after preachers and popular
Christian media personalities in the world are among these false apostles and
deceitful workers who are busily transforming themselves into apostles of
Christ. The scope of this deception will devastate millions of people, blinded
for a time, by the dazzling brilliance of a nation overflowing with false angels
of light.” (Arms, op.cit., p. 241)
If these are the last days, how else will we be protected from the
deception that is coming if we don't hold to sound doctrine? God gave us His
Word. We are told to judge what we hear. Judge the spirits. -
It is interesting to observe that the ecumenical movement is being
driven by politics. If it were not for the common goal of fighting abortion, for
example, evangelicals and Catholics would probably have never come together. - 2 more annotations...

Is psychology a science? A true science deals with data. It can predict
and control. But the foundations of psychotherapy are not scientific but
philosophical. If we look at the founders of modern psychology, we see Sigmund
Freud, Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, William James, Alfred Adler, Erich Fromm, Carl
Rogers, F. B. Skinner, there is not a godly man among them. This list is a Who's
Who in humanism! Their view of man is totally humanistic and their psychological
views are nothing more than humanistic religion at its worst. They not
only get into occultism and Eastern Religion, it springs from New Age thought.
The focus is self - self actualization, self image, self fulfillment,
self esteem, self worth, self-improvement, in short the God of “SELF.”
This is a religion of self-worship. It is self-centered and self-inflated.
Contrary to what Christian psychologists say, man has no problem loving himself
and he is therefore urged to love God first and then his neighbor as himself.
The so called human potential movement leads right to the deification of man.
A Nation Abandoned by God :: Grace to You
-
God only wants one thing out of a nation. Listen and believe this book. I really get grieved even when I hear evangelical people in the media and the public eye kind of equivocating about the clarity of the gospel. It's all we've got. Or about the clarity of what Scripture says. Your prayer and mine has to be that God would raise up faithful preachers and people who would proclaim His Word across this land. Pray for this generation of young men that God will call and shape and send, pray for pastors everywhere. Pray for lay people, for Christians to be bold. There's only one solution and that's the truth...the truth by which God saves, by which God sanctifies, and if this nation will respond and listen to His truth, God will open the flood gates. We might be the greatest recovery story in history. But there's no other way than that people listen to Me and walk in My ways. It's not going to happen if there's a famine of the hearing of the Word of God. Pray that the Word, as Paul said, would have free course and that it would run with all its power across this land. With all its beauty and magnificence, all its power and grace, that people would hear and believe and be saved and be obedient, all that to the glory of God. I don't know what God's plan is, I just see here what His heart is. "O, that My people would listen to Me," that's the heart of God.

dangers he saw facing evangelical Christianity is a sad mistake and a
disservice to that great man of God. -
He was the first Baptist to write a
complete systematic theology and the first to write a verse-by-verse commentary
of the entire Bible. Gill wrote so much that he was known as Dr. Voluminous. - 1 more annotations...
Apostates, Be Warned, Pt. 1 -- John MacArthur

This epistle looks particularly at those who assault the truth from
inside the church. This is not about attacks from the outside, but the
inside, the much more devastating, the much more subtle, the much more
destructive assault on the truth from those who profess to know the truth.
We have to battle inside. It’s as if we are in a fortress and ready to
defend that fortress and its contents from those who would attack from the
outside, all the while having to face an insidious eruption of rebellion on
the inside so that we are always fighting on two fronts.

by winds of change, the faith and values behind America's
success are fading fast. Filling the vacuum is an amoral, power-seeking, thrill-addicted
ideology that clashes with everything we have treasured in our nation. No wonder
we face social and moral anarchy. But our God still reigns! He continues to
be a refuge for those who seek Him! -

Understanding the Tribulation Part 2
-
The Tribulation is God’s last
call to mankind; it’s not a time of wrath only; it’s a time of grace, a final
call to repent and be saved. Let’s commit ourselves to preparing for it even
now - so that when it occurs, we’ll be ready. May God grant us all the honor of
being “knighted” for faithful service and awarded access to his glorious “band
of brothers.”
America is Babylon-Chapter 15
-
Many Christian leaders believe that, since
America isn’t mentioned in prophecy, it must fall away into nothingness so that
Europe or whatever country or group of countries they believe the antichrist
will come from can arise. But there isn’t time. You not only don’t
dismantle an empire over night, you don’t build up a new one either. Again,
I would submit that America fits the description of prophetic Babylon perfectly
– from its apostate Christianity to its economic and military dominance in the
world. Israel is in the land and Jerusalem is a “cup of trembling” to the
nations as the forces line up for the Gog Magog war, the defense treaty between
the antichrist and Israel, and the beginning of the final seven years. -
As Christians in the land of prophetic Babylon,
it behooves us to stay on our knees, not get entangled in the economic and
political system any more than necessary, and to warn others. It just so
happens that our Lord compares the “last days” to the days of Noah.
36"But of that
day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
37But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of
Man be. 38For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the
ark, 39and did not know until the flood came and took them all away,
so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:37-39)
It was business as usual – eating, drinking and
marrying until the flood came. Brothers and sisters, the flood is coming. Our
ark, our refuge is the Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ. He will
have a corporate testimony of Christians built together as a spiritual house.
19Now,
therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with
the saints and members of the household of God, 20having been built
on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the
chief cornerstone, 21in whom the whole building, being fitted
together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22in whom you also
are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
(Ephesians 2:19-22)
In search of Mystery Babylon, Dene McGriff, rapture, tribulation, two witnesses, Revelation, church in tribulation

He speaks of the churches as lampstands and He
is not only walking among them, He is dwelling in them. A “born again”
Christian is someone who has had their human spirit made alive by the Holy
Spirit, making us the temple, the dwelling place of God, the ones He loved and
gave His life for, His counterpart, His Bride, those who have been washed by
the blood of the Lamb. We are His testimony! We are His workmanship! We are
His Body on the earth. What is a Christian but someone who is made alive by
the Spirit of God and, as a seed, He grows within and transforms our lives?
That is what the whole New Testament is all about! Relationship – not
religion!
In search of Mystery Babylon, Dene McGriff, rapture, pre-tribulation rapture, two witnesses, Revelation
-
If, as it says in Matthew 21:21, “there will
be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world
until this time, no, nor ever shall be,” shouldn’t we at least begin to
consider the implications this has for the church, for us, today? Do you
really think that the
Western Church (practically the only part of the Body of Christ on the earth
that isn’t being persecuted) has done something extraordinary to merit escape
from suffering? Over the years many Christians have told me that “God would
never allow His church to suffer” and I say “baloney!”
That not only goes against 2,000 years of history, it defames the sacrifices
made by the many martyrs of the faith (both great and small). If you have
never read it, I would recommend
Foxes Book of Martyrs.
