Art is essential to learning-not just an educational frill. Learning about the visual arts gives students a window onto the rich and interesting world around them, teaching them about their own history and culture, as well as those of other people. It cultivates self-expression, imagination and creativity as well as critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Developed by the Corporation for Educational Technology in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Education for the benefit of Indiana educators, the Writing Site is a free web resource for Indiana educators developed by the Buddy System Project, a non-profit education initiative. At the core of this site is an interactive tutorial for holistic assessment of student writing using the Indiana ISTEP+ rubrics.
