* Mount files as virtual disk partitions, floppy drives or CD/DVD-ROM drives.
* Use virtual memory instead of physical files for the virtual disk storage. Pre-load with a disk image file.
* User-mode service that used to redirect I/O requests to other computers on the network.
* Can start on boot and create virtual disks pre-loading them with the contents of disk image files.
Great little command line utility to index and search Maildir, MH or MBOX formatted mail folders. It creates a new mail folder with the results linked back to the mail so works transparently in any mail client that uses one of these formats for mail storage.
See: http://rajasuperman.blogspot.com/2007/07/using-mairix-through-procmail.html for an example of using with Procmail and Dreamhost.
Browser-based (IE), ActiveX control that will identify hardware and software and search for latest versions. An executable version is available for non-IE users.
Free for home use. Loads of features and well reviewed. Portable version also available
virtual CD/DVD-ROM/RW/RAM emulator, and it is full-featured free software for windows. TotalMounter is also a free full-featured iSCSI initiator, virtual disks emulator, and a client of INetDisk. Its goal is to mount everything, you can not only mount a CD/DVD images (such as iso, bin, cdi, mdf, ccd, nrg etc.) as a virtualized drive, and also make these images by creating a CD/DVD-RW virtualized drive and burning data into it by burning software.
Aerofoil helps extend your Vista Notebook battery life by:

Excellent version of the UNIX ls command specifically for Windows. Supports all versions of NTFS with extended information such as streams and ACLs. Also correctly supports colour.\nUse this instead of the more limited GNU FileUtils or Windows POSIX versions. Can even list registry entries "ls -K HKLM" for example.
Free (GPL) download tool supporting HTTP, FTP and BitTorrent, Flash
MS released tool for enhanced, multi-threaded copying (including SMB and FTP network copying).
In brief, this is a suite of tools for hardware developers, engineers, programmers, system builders and the insatiably curious, that allows exploration of your PCI/AGP/PCI Express/CardBus/CompactPCI/PCI-X/PCI HotPlug/etc. hardware at the lowest level. Full source code is of course included, and is 100% freeware.
Some possible uses for these tools include the following:
- Fully Automating hardware recognition during Operating System installation via the -I option.
- Discovering what an "unknown device" is (both by manufacturer and model), so you can obtain drivers and support. A regularly updated database of over 19,000 entries lists virtually every known PCI device and manufacturer on the planet, even those that no longer exist.
- Examining your exact hardware configuration for curiosity or troubleshooting purposes (e.g. Latency, IRQ routing, AGP speed, resource conflicts and many more common problems can all be solved with these tools)
- Assisting with driver development and hardware design - examine your hardware 'live' as the OS/Driver sees it within Windows, and as the BIOS configures it within DOS via the -D option
- Exploring the source code for assistance with developing your own PCI code or hardware drivers
- Keeping up with modern hardware - with full PCI Express and multiple root-bus support via the -R option, PCI32 outperforms older tools tenfold.
- Auditing systems for hardware change: reports can be saved/printed/emailed/etc for reference and auditing purposes
- And much much more! Download and try it today!
PCI/PCI32 is different to most so-called "Diagnostic" programs, in that it totally bypasses Windows, Drivers, ACPI and the BIOS, and instead communicates directly with the actual hardware at the lowest possible level - unlike so-called diagnostic programs which merely report what the Windows API's and/or registry report, regardless of it's accuracy. PCI32 will show you what's REALLY going on, not just what Windows thinks is happening.
Recovers files from disks with physical damage. Allows you to copy files from disks with problems such as bad sectors, scratches or that just give errors when reading data. The program will attempt to recover every readable piece of a file and put the pieces together. Using this method most types of files can be made useable even if some parts were not recoverable in the end.
Locate files and folders by name instantly.
Seems to be like locate or whereis for Linux
FreeFileSync is an Open-Source folder comparison and synchronization tool. It is used for fast and easy configurable sync operations between two folders without restricted or overloaded UI interfaces. -> See Readme.txt for the list of key features!
Last Changed Files finds the 100 recent changed files on your hard disk or within multiple subdirectories. Once you start Last Changed Files, the software automatically scans your hard drive and shows you the top 100 new created or last changed files on your hard disk. You see the following columns in the top 100 largest files list: file name, full folder path, file size and date of last change.
Furthermore you can select another drive or a specific directory (including subdirectories) if you want. The file finder software starts automatically to scan your selected hard disk or folder. Last Changed Files only takes less than 30 seconds to scan 200 GB. You can define an exclude list of folders, which will not be scanned.
manage your IMAP mail accounts. It is not another mail client. The main purpose of IMAPSize is to locate space consuming folders and allow you to manage them, hence putting your storage quota under control.
Interesting idea to use GoogleTalks Jabber protocol to facilitate a simple VPN-like connection.
Share files, backup, secure desktop (uses VNC with added security), autosync, other shares such as printers if needed.
Everything encrypted at IP level.
No support for corporate proxy servers though.
