A visual programming tool ideal for children & adults to learn the basics. No installation needed, everything happens in the browser but unlike some similar tools, you can also see the JavaScript code that is generated if you want to. Put the parts together like a jigsaw. A nice, simple way for anyone to start to control computers.
"The Deconstructed series is designed to visually and interactively deconstruct the internal code of JavaScript libraries, including jQuery, Prototype and MooTools.
It breaks the physical JavaScript into visual blocks that you can easiliy navigate. Each block opens to reveal its internal code. Clickable hyperlinks allow you to follow program flow."
"jQuery plugin provides access to the local file system (for documents loaded from a file:// URI) to load and save file contents from the browser.
The code is based on TiddlyWiki's self-saving capabilities.
Note that the TiddlySaver applet is required on Opera and WebKit-based browsers (Safari, Chrome). The applet has to be present in the same folder as the respective HTML document. "
"a utility-belt library for JavaScript that provides a lot of the functional programming support that you would expect in Prototype.js (or Ruby), but without extending any of the built-in JavaScript objects. It's the tie to go along with jQuery's tux.
Underscore provides 60-odd functions that support both the usual functional suspects: map, select, invoke — as well as more specialized helpers: function binding, javascript templating, deep equality testing, and so on. It delegates to built-in functions, if present, so modern browsers will use the native implementations of forEach, map, reduce, filter, every, some and indexOf. "
"Logic-less templates", "Available in Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Erlang, PHP, Perl, Go, Lua, ooc, C++, ActionScript, Java, ColdFusion, Scala, and for node.js."
A simple templating framework that provides genuine separation of code and presentation. Widely used and supported.
Some useful and interesting techniques even if you don't want the whole thing. Well worth a look.
Handy link to the main JavaScript libraries for including in projects if you prefer to deliver them from a worldwide location (e.g. Google). This can be faster if your web server is regional but the reach of your web application is global, if you are expecting high visitor numbers or always want to deliver the latest version of the library without having to worry about copying to your web server.
