TOLIS Group :: View topic - LTO-3 Performance

  • Due to hardware, drives, RAM, and many other factors, each system will operate differently under different speeds. Try changing the buffer before you change the block size.

Looks like reads are ok (not great) at 3,960 MB/min (66 MB/sec), but writes are around slow at around 1,980 MB/min (33 MB/sec).
a 256k block size and 256MB write buffer. These allows a steady flow of data into the system and out to the tape drive thus making the drive constantly working instead of one or the other sitting dormant for any length of time.
    .

BRU Server uses a circular buffer I/O, meaning that BRU can build a write buffer, 256MB for example, and when it's completed building that buffer, it will send the data to the drive while starting a new 256MB buffer.
    .
the best we've heard and seen thus far is 63MB/Sec over SCSI 320 with a standalone HP LTO-3 drive

Why not go a step further and offer future contracts on artists. For $30 I get the rights to every song or creative work that that artist produces over their career and I can use it unrestricted providing I don't violate their copyright.

Why not go a step further and offer future contracts on artists. For $30 I get the rights to every song or creative work that that artist produces over their career and I can use it unrestricted providing I don't violate their copyright. Let the market set the price and it would be a powerful incentive for commercial artists to directly manage their careers instead of relying on labels.
