CiteSeerX — China’s Energy Situation and Its Implications in the New Millennium.

  • Abstract Many are interested in China’s energy situation, however, numerous energy related issues in China still remain unanswered, for example, what are the potential forces driving energy demand and supply? Previous reviews focused only on fossil fuel based energy and ignored other important elements including renewable and ‘clean ’ energy sources. The work presented here is intended to fill this gap by bringing the research on fossil-based and renewable energy economic studies together and identifying the potential drivers behind both energy demand and supply to provide a complete picture of China’s energy situation in the new millennium. This will be of interest to anyone concerned with the development of China’s economy in general and the energy economy, in particular.

CERN Document Server: Record#1157381: The Energy Problem

  • A brief general picture of the world, european and italian energy situations is made, analyzing several different energy sources and paying attention to the relations energy-quality of life, energy-environment and energy-health. Then will be discussed fossil fuels, renewable energies, the role of electric energy, nuclear energy, energy savings, the greenhouse effect, a possible sustainable development, the hydrogen economy and the risk and its perception. Then follow the conclusions and perspectives.

ENERGY-US: Obama Faces Hungry Nuclear Industry

As Democratic President-elect Barack Obama prepares to take office in a few weeks, he faces a hungry nuclear industry that wants to be included in his energy plan.\n\nAt least 31 new plants have been proposed throughout the United States, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) website. Twenty-six of these are already going through the NRC's environmental impact review and site approval process.\n\nObama has included reducing U.S. dependence on foreign oil and promoting alternative energies as key components of his campaign platform.

Power In Motion - High-efficiency fan drives ensure significant savings

  • The Siemens motor plant in Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale in Germany produces
customized motors and high-efficiency energy-saving motors. Contrary to standard
motors (EFF2), energysaving motors (EFF1) from the 1LE series are equipped with
a copper rotor. This allows for a significantly higher efficiency - even from
the same frame size motor. "What makes more sense than to use the energy-saving
motors that we produce here in our own applications and at the same time confirm
their competitiveness" - explained Frank Plattenhardt, the engineer responsible
for the casting technology and energy in the in-house casting plant for aluminum
parts. "By using high-efficiency energy-saving motors", explained Frank
Plattenhardt, "we also support the trend to energy-saving drives that will
certainly continue to establish themselves in the future." The opinion of this
hands-on engineer has been further reinforced as a result of the latest two
    in-house projects.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | New Energy for America

    • The Obama-Biden comprehensive New Energy for America plan will:

      • Provide short-term relief to American families facing pain at the pump
      • Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years
to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future.
      • Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela
        combined.
      • Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America.
      • Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by
        2025.
      • Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

The Oil Drum: Europe | Energy Prices, Inflation and Denial

  • Higher energy prices are feeding through to rampant consumer energy price inflation. And yet the authorities and many investment houses still see energy prices falling in the future. This naive view of global energy supplies is starving energy markets of the capital required to expand conventional and alternative energy supplies.
