How to enable LDAP over SSL with a third-party certification authority
"The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is used to read from and write to Active Directory. By default, LDAP traffic is transmitted unsecured. You can make LDAP traffic confidential and secure by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) / Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology. You can enable LDAP over SSL (LDAPS) by installing a properly formatted certificate from either a Microsoft certification authority (CA) or a non-Microsoft CA according to the guidelines in this article."
Download details: Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM)
Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) is a part of Microsoft’s fully integrated directory services available with Windows Server 2003, and is built specifically to address directory-enabled application scenarios. ADAM runs as a non-operating-system service, and, as such, it does not require deployment on a domain controller. Running as a non-operating-system service means that multiple instances of ADAM can run concurrently on a single server, and each instance can be configured independently.
Windows Server 2008 R2 Features a New Active Directory Reycle Bin
As part of Windows Server 2008 R2 (scheduled for release in October, 2009), Microsoft is introducing an Active Directory Recycle Bin feature to help ease the object recovery process. There are several important factors to consider with this new feature. For example, there is no user interface (UI) and scripting is required as well as a significant upgrade to your environment. For more in-depth information, download the whitepaper at the bottom of the page or see Microsoft's Active Directory Recycle Bin Step-by-Step Guide.

Active Directory Recycle Bin in Windows Server 2008 R2 Step-by-Step Guide [R2]
When you enable Active Directory Recycle Bin, all link-valued and non-link-valued attributes of the deleted Active Directory objects are preserved and the objects are restored in their entirety to the same consistent logical state that they were in immediately before deletion. For example, restored user accounts automatically regain all group memberships and corresponding access rights that they had immediately before deletion, within and across domains.

Managing Group Policy ADMX Files Step-by-Step Guide
Microsoft Windows Vista® and Windows Server 2008 introduce a new format for displaying registry-based policy settings. Registry-based policy settings (located under the Administrative Templates category in the Group Policy Object Editor) are defined using a standards-based, XML file format known as ADMX files. These new files replace ADM files, which used their own markup language. The Group Policy tools —Group Policy Object Editor and Group Policy Management Console—remain largely unchanged. In the majority of situations, you will not notice the presence of ADMX files during your day-to-day Group Policy administration tasks.
