PR 2.0: The Social Media Manifesto – Integrating Social Media into Marketing Communications
While I was preparing my presentation for “Starting the Conversation,” a social media workshop hosted by SocialMediaClub, I wound up drafting version one of the manifesto for helping marketers adapt to the rapidly evolving realm of social media.
In the past, I’ve spoken at PR, tech, and communications events about Social Media and how companies can engage in the conversations taking place with or without them. Patricia Handschiegel: The Fatal Flaw Of Internet Business: Traffic -- Why We Need to Adjust What Constitutes Size And Value On The Web
There's something that needs to be made blatantly clear regarding the internet: One million unique visitors that spend less than one minute on a website and do not return is not really "traffic."
I hear so many companies (and you know who you are) that throw out these lofty, excitable "numbers," as if they're pulling in a large, coveted audience, but that is the equivalent of a million people driving by McDonald's every thirty days, taking a look, and not one going in to order a sandwich.
Social Media - are you noisier than you think? by 14sandwiches
In recent months it’s become apparent that a lot of people find themselves overwhelmed by too much information. Subscribe to too many RSS feeds and follow too many people of Twitter and FriendFeed and suddenly you find yourself struggling to keep up with what is mostly irrelevant nonsense. Louis Gray wrote a commonsense post on his blog this weekend: “You Control Your Noise Velocity“. Louis’ straightforward point is that rather than complain about too much noise, you should just make sure you only subscribe to as much as you feel comfortable with.

I had been using a short list of social media principles with my clients. When I started writing my book I wanted to codify them. So research was in order. Imagine my surprise when I found page after page after page of social media principles.
The initial research turned up sixty four of the little buggers. I’ll post my own personal list of social media principles that should make all these a little more concise and coherent.

The world of Socialized Media is maturing and along with it, our knowledge, expertise, reach, and personal and represented brands are only flourishing.
