  • Maybe poetry is so marginal, so fragile a commodity, we worry about kicking it when it’s already pretty clearly down.

Alfie Kohn Is Bad for You and Dangerous For Your Children | Britannica Blog

  • I think of Kohn as the honeyguide of education
  • This summary does not correspond with the conclusions of most researchers, (see, for example, this review of the homework literature).  Kohn also argues that two common justifications for homework—to automatize skills and to provide practice time for mastery—are based on flawed assumptions. Kohn claims that time on task is not important to learning, and that the only skills that can be automatized are behavioral, that is, physical responses such as a golf swing. On both points, he’s in error
