Exclusive: Screen Shots And Feature Overview of Delicious 2.0 Preview
Using del.icio.us taught me the mindset behind web2.0 services, I've architected a major endeavor that's powered by del.icio.us, and I'm a rabid believer in its utility. So needless to say, I'm psyched to see the next iteration nearing release.
xkcd, by Randall Munroe: Map of Online Communities
Pretty apt depiction of the landscape of community websites, ca spring 07.
Meatball Wiki
"Meatball is a community of active practitioners striving to teach each other how to organize people using online tools. Members here are either community managers or are building supporting tools."
Community Next » The Present and Future of Online Communities Conference
Agh! This looks to have been an amazing conference; wish I coulda been there. Page now includes video of sessions with Tara Hunt, Threadless and others.
Rashmi Sinha: Designing for Social Sharing
Honcho at SlideShare and Ph.D. in cognitive psychology; this page has slides from a talk gave at Webvisions 06. Some good stuff in here ("achievement system" -- phrase captures something I've been trying to articulate for some time).
Community Roundtable Notes / Web2Open
Notes from a day-long conversation at web2.0expo about managing/nurturing online communities -- a "community of community managers [trying] not to make the same mistakes." Some great stuff in here -- thank you, Kent Bye (whoever you are) for taking notes!
[chrisbrogan.com] » Twitter is the New Gate Jumper
Great post. Twitter is, among all its uses, a powerful social solvent -- you can follow, and perhaps build relationship with, lots of iinteresting people. And you get this "hangin with the tribe" feeling.
Ning In Full
I've been doing drive-bys of Ning every couple of months for a year, and been underwhelmed. But Michael Arrington makes a strong case here for taking a very close look at the just-relaunched service.
It's the content, not the icons - (37signals)
Heated, mostly anti-icon post & comments about using social-bookmarking icons on your blog. 37signals, as usual, comes off arrogant. The mainstream doesn't know about social bookmarking, and these links are a great way to spread awareness.
Zaadz: Connect. Grow. Inspire. Empower.
Looks like a New Age / progressives social-network site; some 30K members as of now, if I read right.
Online Community Report
Forgot about this site -- I used to subscribe to its email newsletter back in late 90s. Looks like it's still going strong; informed by a lot of experience of how hard it is to build robust online communities -- good antidote to irrational exuberance.
CEO Technology Guide: Social Networks
A Business Week page aggregating lots of articles on social networks, prediction markets, voip.
Does your organization have a community? Or just a mailing list?
Every so often I run across a basic primer on the social web and its potential for nonprofits that crystallizes the big picture -- important, when there's so much info to digest. Here, a Care2 guy, Justin Perkins, does just that.
Convergence: Leaked KickApps Demo
Demo itself is down, but a couple of screenshots still here.
Light Reading - Video - Top Ten Video Sharing Websites - Telecom Report
Blip.tv and videoegg top a list ranking "some of the Internet's most popular video sharing sites by how they performed from the point of view of someone wanting to post videos rather than just look at someone else's."
Office 2.0 Database
At a glance, a promising database of do-one-thing-well web2.0 services. Keep at it, Ismael!
Planet Enterprise 2.0
Aggregates the best blogs about "the use of emergent social, Web 2.0 and SOA 2.0 platforms within companies, or between companies and their partners or customers." Thank you, Rhys Jones and Ian Davis, for building it!
Talking Web 2.0 - Canada's Web 2.0 Community
Aggregates a lot of feeds. Associated I think with the Mesh conference crew, and shows iUpload's "Customer Conversation System" in action.
