Walkingworld - Cracoe

Every weekend dozens of walkers will drive on the B6265 Skipton to Grassington road to walk in nearby Wharfdale. On their journey some may look at the impressive skyline above Cracoe Village, but few will stop to have a closer look. This walk remedies that and introduces the delights of Barden and Embsay Moors, before striding out along the Cracoe Skyline, visiting two monuments on the way.

Walkingworld - Gargrave - Calton - Winterburn - Eshton

Starting at the famous Dalesman Café in the pleasant little Pennine town of Gargrave, we follow the Pennine Way north and soon enter the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Pennine Way here is low-lying and any climbs there are, are brief and not too steep. Pretty pasture land is crossed before reaching the bubbling River Aire, whose banks we follow up to Airton, where we reluctantly leave it and the Pennine Way, behind.

Another short climb takes us up to the little hamlet of Calton, before we cross more pretty pasture, bringing us back to Winterburn. After a short stretch along a quiet country lane, we drop back over to Gargrave, before the last kilometre along the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
