A formidable two-story brick house stands in Georgetown; its exterior gives no hints as to what awaits inside. Once a school for boys in the 1840s, the historic home located at 3014 P St. NW was completely renovated and given over to 15 area interior designers to create the 2008 DC Design House, benefiting the Children's National Medical Center. The interior is a showcase of sophisticated design, style and luxury; perfect for the neighborhood. Purchased by Skip and Debbie Singleton in 2007, the couple wanted to restore the home keeping the historic facade, but updating and completely gutting the interior to design a new modern floor plan. Interior designers from the D.C. area then set about decorating and designing the feel and layout of each room of the house, turning it into a showcase of modern interior design. The result is modern luxury that pays homage to its historic roots. Because of its past life as a boys school, the Singletons felt that a benefit for the Children's National Medical Center would be appropriate for the show house, with admission to the house being donated to the Center.

Leading Victorian designers, Scott Walker and Robert Backhouse from Hassell, were announced the winners of the coveted Best of State Award for Residential Interior Design during the prestigious 2008 Interior Design Awards gala presentation held on Friday 11th April, 2008 at the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The Southern California Chapter of the International Interior Design Association has announced that the winner of a Calibre 2008 Design award is Studios Architecture for its design of Edmunds.com’s headquarters in Santa Monica, California. Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, contracted Studios Architecture for the design of an employee-friendly and productivity-enhancing work space for its 400 employees. Both a photo gallery and a video tour of the office space are available on Edmunds.com’s Web site. “We invested in this process to create a more effective working environment, and we selected an architect who shared that vision,” said Avi Steinlauf, President and Chief Operating Officer of Edmunds.com. “Edmunds realized – way ahead of the current curve – that business and architectural design should mix and that the result is a powerful creative factor in how a business can succeed and stay ahead of the competition,” noted Chris Mitchell, a Managing Principal at Studios Architecture. Interior Design magazine highlighted the office in its January 2007 issue, sharing that during the design process, Mitchell “played a quick word-association game: What are cars about? Sunset Boulevard, motion, being hip…This is L.A., baby.”
