However, the Ustream story actually began much earlier. In 2002, Brad and John met while serving in the Army as military officers after both graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Sharing an enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, Brad and John teamed-up on a web-based digital photo enterprise whose technology was developed and built by Gyula. In 2003, John was deployed to Korea and Brad was assigned to work directly for the Department of Defense. This ultimately forced the photo business to cease operations. Completing their five years of military service, the officers re-connected with Gyula to pursue a new business venture and Ustream.TV was born. Ustream.TV launched to the public on March 26, 2007. The founders soon after added Internet executives to the Ustream team, including Tim Villanueva in May and Chuck Wallace in October. A number of prominent angel investors have invested in the company's idea of live, interactive microbroadcasting. Ustream.TV has quickly established itself as the leading platform for live, interactive microbroadcasting and is growing rapidly.
