Hillary Clinton to Be Secretary of State; Bill Richardson to be Secretary of Commerce « Republican Ranting

  • This has just broke in. We’ve been suspecting it all day, but today, sources have just confirmed that Hillary Clinton (D-NY) has been offered the position of Secretary of State by President-Elect Obama, and a source close to Senator Clinton has confirmed that she is expected to accept the position.

Evidence that Some Blacks Are Not Voting for Obama Based on Issues « Republican Ranting

  • So, a friend sent me a link to a clip from the Howard Stern show from last Sunday, and I put it into a video (as well as typed up a transcript which is below the video). It’s one of Stern’s radio people, Sal, who goes into Harlem and interviews 3 black people and attributes McCain’s stances to Obama. They say that they agree with those stances (thinking that they are Obama’s).

“Barack Osama” Listed as Candidate on Ballot in Rensselaer County, New York « Republican Ranting

  • In Rensselaer county New York, some funny typing went on when the absentee ballot was made up. In row 1A for the Presidential election, “Barack Osama” is listed instead of “Barack Obama.”

Live Analysis of the September 26 Presidential Debate on Foreign Policy « Republican Ranting

  • We’re about a minute out, I’ll be live blogging the whole event. Jim Lehrer (PBS) is the moderator. I’ll be watching CNN (it would be FOX, but they weren’t ready on time).
The Ku Klux Klan is in the audience, we’ve heard, but not in robes and not protesting.

Disgusting Image: “Happy Twin Towers Day” « Republican Ranting

  • That first one was what really got me angry, but the second one didn’t really cheer me up either.
This is just disgusting. And then somebody on Daily Kos went on to post it, in a sort of joking way agreeing with the British that we “celebrate” 9/11 too much. Why do the British care if we mourn on 9/11 or not!

A September 11th Tribute: 7 Years, Never Forget « Republican Ranting

  • Today marks the 7 year anniversary of the September 11th Attacks. Today is a day that affected many Americans, if not all Americans. I can still, to this day tell you exactly where I was when I first heard about it, down to the very spot of the room. And thinking back now brings tears to my eyes, thinking about how many people we lost that day, so many innocent and helpless people.

Analysis of Rudy Giuliani’s Speech at the RNC « Republican Ranting

  • He’s talking about him supporting John McCain, just like he said he would. “This year, with what’s at stake, 2008 IS the most important election in our lifetime, and we’d better get it right.” A great quote from Giuliani. It’s emphasizing the fact that, sure we say that every year, but this year its actually true. This is a major cornerstone for American and whoever wins will have a huge impact on the future of this nation.

Live Analysis of Former Virginia Governor Mark Warner’s Speech at the DNC « Republican Ranting

  • Mark Warner just entered the stage.
“No American need be left out or left behind.”
“The global competition won’t be one with yesterdays ideas,” and something about a President who can’t lead.
Hang on - got interrupted. Stupid Alan Colmes.

Analysis of Michelle Obama’s Speech at the DNC « Republican Ranting

  • I’ll be live blogging this. I’m watching the video now.
Looking good so far, but not as inspirational as Ted Kennedy’s. “Who names their kid Barack Obama, so this kid has to be weird” - that’s a great quote (sorry if I screwed it up a bit).

  • Alright, so, AGAIN, the media (this time the New York Times, instead of the Associated Press) is reporting that a Clinton aide, specifically Howard Wolfson, a chief strategist, told them that she would be suspending her campaign. Wolfson told the Times that she will announce on Friday that she is done and will endorse Obama.

Obama Clinches the Nomination; Clinton Open to Being His Running Mate « Republican Ranting

  • This broke earlier today while I was at work, so my apologies for having it up late.
Although Obama has not formally come out with the ”magic number,” my tallies, as well as CNN’s and the Associated Press’s do confirm that he should go over that mark tonight, if what Obama is reporting in terms of Superdelegate pledges is true, and if what Superdelegates themselves have said is true.

Clinton Calls Rumors of Her Being Obama’s Vice President “Flatly Untrue” « Republican Ranting

  • Late last week, while apologizing for her comments about Bobby Kennedy, Clinton also addressed rumors that she has been in secret talks with the Obama campaign about her being Obama’s running mate: “It is flatly untrue and it is not anything I’m entertaining. It is nothing I have planned and it is nothing I am prepared to engage in. I am still vigorously campaigning. … I would look to the camp of my opponent for the source of these stories. People have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa.”

  • Well, the moment a lot of people had been waiting for happened yesterday - the prostitute that got New York Governor and Former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer (Client 9) (Democrat) in all of his troubles revealed her identity.

The woman named Kristen in an affidavit was described as “an American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5 feet 5 inches, and 105 pounds.” She apparently was booked at $1,000-an-hour, which is in the middle of the seven-diamond scale which the Emperor’s Club V.I.P. uses. Some prostitutes made as much as$4,300 an hour.

  • Four (it started with two when I tried to get this posted before my class) New York State Assembly members, all Republicans, have threatened New York Governor (and former Attorney General) Eliot Spitzer with articles of impeachment if he does not resign within 48 hours. This is all stemming from Spitzer’s telephone calls and involvement with the illegal prostitution ring known as Emporers Club VIP in Washington, D.C.

Rest in Peace: William F. Buckley Jr. « Republican Ranting

  • I know this is a couple days late, but I just wanted to take some time and honor the great conservative thinker, William F. Buckley Jr.
Since 1955, Buckley has been writing newspaper columns and hosting talk shows.
He had a sense of humor too. In 1965 when he ran for Mayor of New York City under the Conservative party (since any Republican who gets elected there isn’t a true conservative. i.e. Giuliani), he was asked what he would do if he won. His response was, “Demand a recount.”
