Barack Obama Will Not Pull Out of Iraq Within 16 Months « Republican Ranting
-
It amazes me how many people are under this illusion that Senator Obama will pull our troops out of Iraq within 16 months of assuming office. Why do I doubt that he’ll actually pull out within 16 months?

A Plea to All Michigan Voters (And Any Other Voters, Really) « Republican Ranting
-
Folks, I’m going to be straight with you here. I think we all know that it’s going to take a miracle for McCain to win Michigan (I won’t say it’s impossible - I’ve learned my lesson once before).

Henry Kissinger Says that Obama Lied About His Views on Iran « Republican Ranting
-
I know that this has been raised in the media quite a bit, but I just wanted to comment briefly on this. During the debate, the following exchange took place (transcript courtesy of CNN) (bolded areas are the parts that relate directly to Dr. Henry Kissinger (Fmr. Secretary of State), but I always put things in context, so here’s the whole segment:

Live Analysis of John McCain’s Acceptance Speech at the RNC « Republican Ranting
-
Alright, we’re now waiting for McCain to come out and speak - he’s had his family come out and Cindy spoke, theyr’e playing a video of him now. And his mom just called him a “mamma’s boy” - that was funny.
Talking about his service in the military, and talking about being held as a Prisoner of War - I gotta say, no matter who you are, you have to respect John and any of our troops.

Analysis of Senator Joe Biden’s Speech to the DNC « Republican Ranting
-
He’s starting out talking about being proud of his kids, and that the way they turned out made him a success. Now he’s moved on to his wife. Talking about how he wants to bring the country as far along as Bill Clinton did.
Analysis of Bill Clinton’s Speech to the DNC « Republican Ranting
-
Wow - he got a great reception. A REALLY great reception. “I’m here, first to support Barack Obama.” Hillary didn’t look to happy there, but Michelle did. “Second, and second, I’m here to warm up the crowd for Joe Biden.” That’s good. Starting out from the beginning saying that he’s supporting Obama is what the party needed.

Live Analysis of Hillary Clinton’s Speech at the DNC « Republican Ranting

OK, so I’m waiting for Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer to get done - he’s actually a good speaker, really energetic and fun. I disagree with what he’s saying, but he’s a really likeable, down-to-earth guy. Wow, this guy is just getting the crowd fired up. Talking a lot about oil. He has FIRED up the crowd. They’re all cheering for him. He just asked who’d be the next President and somebody just raised a Hillary sign. My liberal roommate just said, “Make him his roommate, not Biden.”

McCain Ad: Former Clinton Delegate Turned McCain Supporter « Republican Ranting
-
It’s a good ad. I would’ve liked it better if she’d have done that on her own, instead of going to the McCain campaign to do it, because it looks more forced that way, but it still shows the fact that a lot of Clinton supporters are 1) mad about Obama being the nominee and 2) willing to actually do something about it.

Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick Now Tied in Her Primary Battle « Republican Ranting
-
Well, the results for the Michigan 13th Congressional District could not get much tighter. I’m guessing that Kilpatrick WILL maintain her lead, since Detroit is often the last one to have precincts come in, and this is where her support will be the strongest, but this is by no means a call for who will win - it’s still WAY too close. Here are the results as of 12:15 A.M. EDT with 244/343 (71%) precincts reporting:

Now that He’s Safe, Obama Wants to Seat Michigan and Florida’s Delegates « Republican Ranting
-
Well, this came as a move that we all knew would happen, but it doesn’t make it any less disgusting. After complaining and whining about seating Michigan and Florida’s delegates (156 and 211 delegates, respectively), and settling on a compromise that would still make him pretty safe to win the nomination, Obama has decided that he wants to seat all of Florida and Michigan’s delegates to the DNC, with FULL votes (they were all going to be seated with 1/2 votes).
I’m a Republican, And I’m Voting For a Tax for the Detroit Zoo « Republican Ranting
-
Well, this is a decision that wasn’t exactly easy for me to make, but now that I’ve made it, I’m confident that I made the right decision. I have decided that I will vote for the 0.1 mill to help fund the Detroit Zoo (a copy of the proposals can be found below). The zoo is located in Oakland County. The mill would be imposed for 10 years, from 2008 through 2017. If it passes, it is expected to raise a total of $14,968,031.11 if it passes in all 3 counties, as it is expected to.
Kansans, Michiganders, Missourians, and Georgians: Don’t Forget to Vote Today! « Republican Ranting
-
Michiganders, Kansans, Missourians, and Georgians, today is your primary election! I don’t know about you, but we’ve got lots of fun stuff to vote on down here in Wayne County (Michigan) (ok, not really, on the Republican side, there’s 2 contested races, but on the Democrats’ side it seems like there’s more candidates than voters; also, there’s a vote on a 0.1 mill for the Detroit Zoo)!
