1 Day to Go: Final Senate Prediction: Democrats Gain 7 Seats « Republican Ranting

  • Here’s my Senate prediction. I already did my Presidential election prediction. The colors ARE switched from what the normal media colors, so sorry about that, but that’s the way the website I use does it. The maps are courtesy of Dave Leip’s U.S. Election Atlas, and my most current prediction can always be found here. On to the predictions…

2 Weeks Away: Senate Prediction: Democrats Gain 4 Seats « Republican Ranting

  • Well, just like the Presidential prediction, here are my predictions for the Senate races (percentages is the first map, with confidence being the second map). The colors ARE switched from what the normal media colors, so sorry about that, but that’s the way the website I use does it. The maps are courtesy of Dave Leip’s U.S. Election Atlas, and my most current prediction can always be found here. On to the predictions…

Live Analysis of the Senate Vote on the New Bailout Bill: Bill Passes « Republican Ranting

  • Alright, so I’ve been watching C-SPAN throughout the day as much as I could, and saw everything from the US-India nuclear agreement and the Amtrak bill to the discussion on the Financial Industry Bailout bill. They’ll be voting on that next, and I’ll be live blogging as they vote, whether it looks like it’ll pass or fail. The rumor is that it’s expected to pass the 60-vote threshold, since they added some tax cut packages; however, these packages were rejected earlier in the week by the house, so it may clear the Senate, but fail the House by more than H.R. 3997 did.

The Democrats Don’t Want Lieberman Anymore? « Republican Ranting

  • There is now a rumor going around that Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT-McCain) will be kicked out of the Democratic Caucus and lose his Chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee. He was given that position after he agreed to caucus with the Democrats in 2006, when they needed him to give them the lead.

Obama Slams Chris Matthews and Cable News in a Joke During an Interview « Republican Ranting

  • During an interview at West Chester University (just outside Philadelphia, PA) with Chris Matthews on Hardball: College Tour, Obama was asked, “At any time in this campaign, did you have a chuckle … something … that you just went to bed laughing about.” Obama responded with, “Oh, I think that happens once a day, but then I stopped watching cable news.” Matthews responded, “Oh.”

Ralph Nader to Clinton on His Blog: “Don’t Listen to Leahy” « Republican Ranting

  • Ralph Nader has even chimed in on the whole Tonya Harding Option vs. Clinton dropping out controversy. He posted this post on his blog:
    Don’t Listen to Senator Leahy
Posted by Ralph Nader on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 04:39:00 PM

    Senator Clinton:
Just read where Senator Patrick Leahy is calling on you to drop out of the Presidential race.
    Believe me.

Howard Dean Wants Superdelegates to Decide Their Candidates By July 1st « Republican Ranting

  • Today, Democratic National Committee Chairman and former Governor Dr. Howard Dean (D-VT-No endorsement yet) went on CBS’s The Early Show to discuss the ever-growing problem of infighting between Obama and Clinton. Here’s a video of Dean’s interview:

(Is it just me, or does Dean look like he’s aged a LOT since 2004? - He didn’t look so good in this interview, but then again, I’ve said that about 1/2 the people I’ve seen on TV lately.)

Chris Dodd: “We Need to Get Behind a Candidate (Obama)” « Republican Ranting

  • Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT-Obama) has joined Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT-Obama) in telling Clinton essentially to shut up and go away (Dodd doing it a little more discretely than Leahy). Today after a meeting in Norwich, CT, Dodd told reporters:
“Obviously, if they keep at it, this nomination won’t be worth much, in my opinion. This idea of backbiting and sniping on an hourly basis is undermining our ability to win an election. Then, I think, at that point, national leadership has to stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough.’ We need to get behind a candidate. I was hopeful that others might have stepped up here. But if they don’t, I will.”

Clinton Donors and Nancy Pelosi Clash Over Superdelegates « Republican Ranting

  • So on Wednesday, a letter from 20 top Clinton campaign donors sent the following letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA):
    The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the US House of Representatives
    Office of the Speaker
    H-232, US Capitol
    Washington, DC 20515
    Dear Madame Speaker,
As Democrats, we have been heartened by the overwhelming response that our fellow Democrats have shown for our party’s candidates during this primary season. Each caucus and each primary has seen a record turnout of voters. But this dynamic primary season is not at an end. Several states and millions of Democratic voters have not yet had a chance to cast their votes.
