Some Republican Governors Break Party Ranks and Support Stimulus Bill « Republican Ranting

Alright, this news article is a few days old, but since the Senate hasn’t voted on the stimulus package yet, it’s still applicable. I read an AP article that a friend showed me, and while I won’t post the whole thing, I’ll highlight some key points. The article talks about Republican Governors who are urging Congress to pass the stimulus bill. The full article can be read here. Then I went looking for more positions on the bill and found a few other governors’ positions.

Alaska Senator Ted Stevens Found Guilty on All Counts of Making False Statements; Hello Senator Mark Begich « Republican Ranting

Well, the jury of 8 women and 4 men has deliberated and has come back to find Senator Stevens (R-AK) guilty on all 7 counts of making false statements (lying on U.S. Senate financial disclosure forms for 1999-2006).
Before entering the courtroom, Stevens told reporters, “Put this down. I am not stepping down. I’m going to run through, and I’m going to win this election.” After hearing the verdict, he allegedly told his wife, Catherine, “It’s not over yet.”

Live Analysis of the Final Presidential Debate « Republican Ranting

Alright, we’re moments away from the beginning of the debate. As always, I’ll be watching CNN, who will have a focus group (undecided voters in Ohio) with a tracking rating of how people like what they’re hearing (broken up by men and women). Well, holy crap! I never expected to see this. I was in the bookstore coming back from class and this broke in, so I got what I needed and rushed back to my room. I mean - holy crap, I never expected this.
I was expecting Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty, but NEVER Sarah Palin. Her Intrade stock has now skyrocketed to 98.3.

Alaska Senator Ted Stevens Indicted; Department of Justice Makes a Statement « Republican Ranting

So, on Tuesday night, news broke that Ted Stevens (or “Uncle Ted” as he’s sometimes referred to in Alaska) (R-AK), who I love for his firey personality, but strong disagree with on many issues (pork barrel spending, his stances on abortion, to name a couple), was indicted for seven felony counts of making false statements on Senate financial disclosure reports between 1999 and 2006. He is accused of concealing over $250,000 worth of house renovations and gifts from VECO Corp. A copy of the indictment can be found here.
