Spigit Raises Capital for Workplace Social Network - Bits Blog - NYTimes.com
What if the boss at a big company wants to ask all the employees if they have any ideas for solving a company problem? Call a meeting? An all-hands memo? Spam them with e-mail?
No, this is the era of Web 2.0. Spigit, a start-up that makes a Web-based tool to do this the modern way.
Companies can choose which Spigit features they want to use. They can start blogs or wikis, run surveys or polls, or take it a step further with prediction markets, where employees invest virtual currency in ideas they like. Or, they can connect Spigit with other programs they already use, including Microsoft’s SharePoint or Web-meeting software.

Google Apps Exits Beta, Poaches Fairchild Semiconductor from IBM
Google July 7 took its core Google Apps out of beta and said Fairchild Semiconductor has moved its 5,500 employees to Google Apps Premier Edition (GAPE) from IBM Lotus Notes, the latest coup for the company's growing effort in cloud computing.
