Education Week: Twitter Lessons in 140 Characters or Less

  • Dorie Glynn, who teaches a bilingual 2nd grade class at Kirk Elementary
School in Houston, has been preparing students for conversations of their own on
Twitter. The students have started following other classes at the school, and
across the country, as they get ready to share data on regional cultures,
weather, and to play a virtual I Spy game, in which they will hunt for geometric
shapes in maps and photos sent from Twitter followers in other places.

“I see a huge amount of potential for connecting with another classroom,
asking regional questions, comparing and contrasting areas,” Ms. Glynn said.

Microsoft Outlook Web Access

Re: Zuckerberg interview- WOW! Twitterbugs totally trashed Sarah Lacy (I watched the interview). Talk about immediate feedback...Do you think this new evolution of being an active participant in the audience is a "good thing", or just the reality of the matter now so speakers, etc. will just have to learn to deal w/ it & change the format of their presentations? Basically, who's running the show?

An aside- interesting to hear that Lacy herself TWITTERED BACK to her critics in the heat of the moment with, "seriously, screw all you guys, i did my best to ask a range of things." Then later, when asked about the interview & her critique she said the criticism was par for the course for female journalists covering technology. Interesting...I'd like to know if she thought her twit to everyone saying "screw you" was par for the course for a professional journalist...Definitely cause for some self-reflection.

Lots to think about on this one, but it's Saturday, so I'm off to a B-Day party at Chuck E Cheese instead (don't know how much thinking I'll get done there!)
