The site supports 11 languages at the moment, and you can easily bookmark a language pairing for quick access while traveling. FlyTunes - Now The iPhone Is Complete
FlyTunes, a free radio streaming application for the iPhone/iPod touch, just got some upgrade love. They’ve added over 200 new channels to the list, bringing the number of available streams up to around 350. Not bad for free, when you consider that subscription satellite services like XM and Sirius only manage to offer about 70 channels each. They’ve also added support for video and podcast streams, which make up a number of the new channels. FlyTunes has also received a few UI upgrades. You can now customize your channel listings, and recommend streams to your iPhone toting friends via SMS.

Whether you believe in evolution or creationism, it is hard for technology to beat the natural world when it comes to design and function. Often it is best to study nature and try to emulate its wonders. That’s what Audience has been doing for its voice processor that can be found in NTT DoCoMo’s new mobile phone, Sharp SH705iII. Audience created the A1010 Voice Processor and based it on the intelligence of the human hearing system. The Audience A1010 supports Sharp’s Triple Kukkiri Talk by providing noise suppression, voice equalization, and voice stretch performance. It doesn’t matter if annoying noise comes from the caller’s environment, or over the network from the other end of the call, Voice Processor reduces multiple noise sources to make for a clearer call. The Audience Voice Processor is the first custom IC to be modeled on the human hearing system. By understanding the auditory pathway, from the cochlea to the brainstem to the thalamus and cortex, Audience is the first company to create a commercial product based on the science of Auditory Scene Analysis (ASA). The Audience Voice Processor is able to deal with a complex mixture of sounds and handle the signals the way the human brain actually perceives specific sounds. This allows the technology to identify and suppress noise sources that would otherwise interfere with a call. There is similar technology out there, but it makes sense to start with how we hear and tailor the technology to that, instead of ignoring the human hearing system and focusing simply on the electronics.

Now in public beta, GeoGraffiti is a free “Verbal Bulletin Board” that allows you to record and share location-specific voice notes, or “Voice Marks”, whether you’re on the go or in front of your computer. Find a new coffee shop that you love? Call up GeoGraffiti, and leave a Voice Mark to let the world know. Want to warn people where the crack houses are? Voice Mark! Once you’re registered, any Voice Marks from your mobile phone will be automatically associated with your account and added to the map, where others in the community can rate and respond. Adding a new location through the site is quick and easy, but doing so over the phone is currently a bit of a chore. If you initiate the Voice Mark over the phone, its placement is only accurate to the zip code. After you record your Voice Mark, you’ll click your way through a series of menus to properly tag your recording - it’s easy to follow, but listening through the options takes a bit too long. It’d be nice to be able to store unpublished voice memos onto my account to be tagged and accurately positioned later.
