PM apology after Turing petition
This is excellent news!
We've come along way from the oppression of the 1950s but I fear that reason and tolerance are delicate threads that we could so easily lose.
I have no idea how many other, less prominent, lives were ruined in similar circumstances. I hope those who think that gay rights, and the fight against oppression in general, don't matter will pause to reflect.
(I'm tempted to take a peek at the Daily Fail and see what the self-righteous think but I'm sure it will just anger and depress me)
Press Complaints Commission >> News >> Adjudication: Ms Mullan, Mr Weir & Ms Campbell v Scottish Sunday Express
Excellent ruling on how the Express invaded the privacy of Dunblane teenagers

I hate this kind of story.
Presumably all her bills would have been paid by Direct Debit; presumably also Cleo Gifford who lived opposite didn't really notice when this elderly neighbour, who lived alone and never had visitors, stopped 'always cleaning her brasses' and didn't think even to knock and check she was alright. I'd go anonymous if it were me, rather than saying "I think it is tragic that someone can be deceased for such a long period of time and not be found, it is really sad."
Ah well, Cleo's live is now Fulfilled; she's been on the BBC.
Fleet lost in fire college blaze

An investigation is under way to establish the cause.
My bet is: someone started a fire deliberately. Presumably they failed their course.
BBC NEWS | Scotland | Glasgow, Lanarkshire and West | Nuclear sub 'discharge' warning
I think we should just get rid of Trident and not bother replacing it. But then, I said the same thing about Polaris

There is always more than one side to every story
Barack Obama tells Gordon Brown, what goes in London, stays in London
“He can’t go out back home,” said one White House insider.
“He gets recognised all the time, so it’ll be nice to party where nobody knows who he is.”
