Why the In Harmony project rings true | Tom Service | Music | guardian.co.uk

In the six months or so that the scheme has been running, she said, the culture of the school has transformed. Crime and anti-social behaviour in the area are reported to have gone down, and violinist Sally Anne Anderson, the project's leader, explained that the whole community has ownership of the scheme, with parents as enthused by their children's music-making as the kids themselves.

Opera? Is she a chat show host ask Brits ignorant of classical music? - Telegraph

One in four people from Coventry think that Beethoven was a dog rather than a world famous composer and one in 10 people from York thought Mozart was a footballer.

Chris de Burgh sees red - The Irish Times - Fri, Sep 11, 2009

I have to say, I love Chris de Burgh pre-Lady in Red (and most of the rest of the album from which that came), and have only forgiven him for subsequent stuff because of the quality of his earlier work.

This letter is the work of the genius who wrote songs such as Patricia the Stripper.

Alison Balsom: 'don't compare me to Katherine Jenkins' - Times Online

"If the comparisons were with musicians I completely admire, ones who have inspired me with their talent, integrity and artistic vision, then perhaps . . . but to be compared with someone who is not necessarily immediately associated with those qualities is an obvious insult"

Don't hold back, Alison!

The article also mentions that she and Ed Gardner are a couple.

The Classical Brit Awards - an insult to the public :: Michael White

In all the time I've been a music critic I don't think I've ever come across a more wretchedly ill-conceived venture than these. They have no worth, no integrity, no class. And in a real sense they're a fraud on the public.

Katherine Jenkins, Andrea Boccelli, Blake, Il Divo...what do any of these people have to do with classical music? Very little. They're a bunch of spangled crooners, some of whom have the audacity to call themselves 'opera singers' but who couldn't hold the stage for half an hour at Covent Garden, let alone the five hours of a Wagner night.

Music | More Artists added to BRITs lineup - Classic FM

Jonas Kaufmann will also be at the Classical Brits. Should be good.

Hmm, and Camilla Windsor. Don't like it when Royals attend things. Complicates the interval smokebreak. And too many police around.
