"This ebook investigates the challenges to effectively using technology in the classroom and discusses key points of an effective technology integration program."
"Own Your Space is a free, sixteen chapter ebook designed to educate tweens and teens about protecting themselves and their stuff online. This ebook isn't a fluffy, general overview book. Each chapter goes into great detail explaining the technical threats that students' computers face online as well as the personal threats to data that students can face online. For example, in the first chapter students learn about different types of malware and the importance of installing security patches to prevent malware infections. The fourteenth chapter explains the differences between secured and unsecured wireless networks, the potential dangers of an unsecured network, and how to lock-down a network."

Get your students off to an interesting start in 2010. You can copy the embedded HTML code from this site and add it to your classroom Ning or Blogsite. Get each student to calculate thier carbon foot print!
This is a great news 24 Site that has articles and summaries of Key areas of the Copenhagen summit. It makes a very good reference place to send students to.
This is a great example of a NING been used by a Geography and Social studies teacher. She has added some great videos for student comment. Only the front page of the site is visable, you have to be a member to do more. (The teacher approves members - so you have control on who you allow access). Students can comment, participate in a forum, add more videos or photos. A great platform for education using any subject.
Great link to look at Blogs and Nings been used in education from English to Maths.
Fan Fiction is a very interesting online publishing house. Many teenagers are using this to write and publish stories and comment and review others stories. While I was unable to find the rules on useage protocol, I did see that the forum is moderated for teenagers for suitable content. Just browsing arround I did not come accross any unsuitable language or content.
While you may not want to use this as a classroom tool, you may have students that would love to publish thier stories.
