Diigo vs. del.icio.us vs Traditional Bookmarking - diigo.com

I am glad both exist and can be bookmarked to simultaneously with only one post. Important security and good to have two services that can tease and tempt each other with new features. Good for the general development. Excellent as they can be combined.

6 Reasons Diigo is Better Than Delicious | GetANewBrowser.com

  • This is a hard one for me… But I’ve stopped using Delicious as of yesterday. Delicious was, probably, the first Web 2.0 application that I started using it. I remember “back in the day” trying to explain its usefulness to TJ. I had high hopes for the service when Yahoo bought them three years ago. But honestly, even with their latest release - they have stopped innovating.

Diigo: Collaboration beyond bookmarks - blog.inc.com/technology

  • Sharing Beyond the Page

Creating conversations right on the page is great, but it’s nice to send the conversation around the web as well. Diigo lets you easily email links and annotations to people you think would be interested in it. Also, you can create a blog entry from it, or even send it as a tweet in Twitter. This is powerful as you’re able to extend the reach of the conversation and open it up for further collaboration.

Diigo is packed full of functionality, and may take a bit to get used to. But if you’re looking to go beyond traditional bookmarking, you’ll want to check it out.

PGreenblog: I Dig (not Digg) Diigo (not Digg-o)

  • I think I finally found the Web 2.0 social tool I love. It has captured my heart. It's put a spring in my cerebral step. Its made my life easier because it is sooooo easy to use and so many people who I've invited to this particular dance have come. This is a dance that has a bit of hip hop, a little paso doble, a bit of the ballroom and some jazz. This is easily the best social bookmarking and research tool that I've run across on the web and given that I'm in a geeked out frenzy most of the time trying out zillions of tools that's saying something big time.

Words about Diigo.com: Social Bookmarking - mispalabras08.blogspot.com

  • Diigo will automatically find the exact website that it is from. Unlike Google or Yahoo, Diigo takes you straight to the website and highlights the sentenced you have typed. Google and Yahoo give you millions of sites which include the same words, or many times just a few of those words and not in order. It is much harder and time consuming to use those sites to look for something. Diigo facilitates the work of people and it also saves you alot of time

Is Facebook the Most Popular Social Bookmarking Service on the Web? - ReadWriteWeb

Other exellent services such as Diigo also need to be offered through easy "shareThis" links. Their challenge is to identify where they can contribute and add in themselves as an option for the end user, for example in the Services links contributed module (http://drupal.org/project/service_links) for the Drupal content management system.

A web admin might be even more motivated to promote a service he or she think it better, than to offer just what is most popular. The vast popularity of email emphasises the need to inform even more people about the various ways and reasons to share. Many simply dont know other ways (or even reasons) than email.

  • How do website readers prefer to share stories they find with friends? According to the company behind the widely used sharing widget ShareThis, after emailing a link, the most popular method of sharing is now Facebook. The numbers are interesting - but there are also some big caveats to keep in mind.
  • In our enthusiasm for Web 2.0 style tools, many blog publishers may forget just how popular sharing by email is.
