Meatball Wiki: AnnotationWiki
-
This is an experiment to detect synergies between social annotation and a wiki system.
Note, how the formating is lost, when copying from wiki. Suggestion: we need at least WikiFormatting for diigo sticky notes:
As currently there is no elegant way to edit and hyperlink annotations, we could use an arbitrary wiki as a mediator between Webpages to be annotated. Further comments can be inserted into:
http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?action=edit&id=AnnotationWiki or alternatively as sticky notes in diigo.
- fridemar on 2006-10-30 -
To see the difference between diigo sticky notes and the annotated page, compare the following copy with the original: http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?AnnotationWiki
My first comment leads directly to the editable page form. You can switch from document viewer mode to edit mode in the annotated target page.
Benefits for diigo users:
* instead of unformatted, uneditable sticky notes diigo user get all the features of a full blown wiki
* diigo users probably get as new companions "wikizens", i.e. friendly and constructive people with highly developed social intelligence (hopefully ;-)
Benefits for wiki users:
* they get a tempory manual annotation capability (since WikAlong? is currently no more active)
* they get something to experiment with, how to combine a wiki with an annotation system
* they get a feeling for the added value of combining a WikiEngine with a WebAnnotation system
* they probably get as new users diigo users, i.e. friendly and constructive people with highly developed social intelligence (hopefully ;-)

Add Sticky NoteLet's test a direct annotation on this writable wiki form focussed on this phrase.
- It's amazing. that now editing and deleting works nearly perfectly. What I miss are date/time stamps of the last edited paragraph. - on 2006-11-07
- Question: Can't comments have (clickable) links like other Web annotation systems like CritOrg have. Workaround: In the annotated wikipage "CritOrg" is a link. What I am suggest is: Wikipages should be the outsourced forms of the (diigo) webannotation system. - on 2006-11-07
- Surprise, surprise. Now links show up. Thank you programmers. You are very fast. - on 2006-11-05
- Hey, they show up, but they are not clickable as is standard in forums and wikis. Is there some bracket notation to make links in sticky notes? - on 2006-11-05
- Try partial links now: www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?AnnotationWiki
usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?AnnotationWiki
Let's see, if it works. - on 2006-11-05 - Result: This link was suppressed by the current diigo annotation server :-( - on 2006-11-05
- But the link (I repaste it here again), didn't show as sticky note. This is a very bad shortcoming: http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?action=edit&id=AnnotationWiki
Perhaps the link can't live as the last string, without a carriage return? I just test it.
- on 2006-11-05 - Here I leave a link to the wiki-edit form: http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?action=edit&id=AnnotationWiki - on 2006-11-05

After a second visit, some hours later, it works. Hey it works!!! Thank dear Diigo programmers for your fast internal upgrade. :-)

German proverbs - Wikiquote
-
Based on this document we help each other to improve our language skills ... by singing proverbs. Native English speakers help to improve native German speakers speak each others language and vice versa. Proverbs can be annotated by our own funny modifications without disturbing the base wiki. If somebody finds a missing proverb s/he is invited to add it (with its translation) to wikiquote.

The easiest way to ask a bunch of people just about anything.
Here's how it works:
You've got a question you want to ask a lot of people. Let's say: "Where should we go for Christyn's engagement party?"
3spots: ALL Social that CAN bookmark
-
Did you know, that there are meanwhile such a lot of social bookmarking communities as listed on this page? Nevertheless the author only knows one, that surpasses social bookmarking.
It's Diigo.com.
The author hopes, that Diigo soon upgrades its wysiwig-sticky-note-annotation-engine by a wysiwig-wiki-annotation-engine. Any experience, with other social annotating communities?
