Gen Y is taking over. The generation of young adults that's compromised of the children of Boomers, Generation Jones, and even some Gen X'ers, is the biggest generation since the Baby Boomers and three times the size of Gen X. As the Boomers fade into retirement and Gen Y takes root in the workplace, we're going to see some big changes ahead, not just at work, but on the web as a whole.

What is Music 2.0? - ReadWriteWeb

Music futurist Gerd Leonhard has just released an informative video explaining what music 2.0 is and how the music industry should change to adapt to 'web 2.0' principles. The video is embedded below. Some of the themes are that control doesn't work (e.g. DRM and trying to control networking) and that music is meant to be shared. Even iTunes comes into some criticism - iTunes works great, says Leonhard, but it "is a locked community". Ultimately, Leonhard says that "open is king" and that "we have to give up on the idea of control and move to an open ecosystem in music." Check out the video!

Journalism Hall of Fame today, says newspapers need to move aggressively online, attract younger readers and create niche products to serve segments of the market.

Mobile Web Trends & Products, March '08 Update - ReadWriteWeb

When it comes to keeping track of Mobile Web trends and products, Rudy De Waele has his finger constantly on the pulse. This month Rudy gave a presentation at the Plugg Conference in Brussels about Mobile 2.0. It was an update to the one we featured in September '07 and as usual it is a fantastic overview of the Mobile Web space. I've picked out some highlights below, and embedded the whole slideshow at the conclusion of this post (via Slideshow).
