The Difference Between Scandinavian and Nordic - goscandinavia.about.com

Notice an error in this article: Finnish is NOT spoken in Norway, nor can it be said to be spoken in general in Sweden either. And one of the sentences suddenly ends up with putting Finland in there, after a logical explanation that did not involve Finland. But for all practical purposes, Scandinavia as a term and geographical location, is generally more known (and associated with the countries) than the term "nordic". There are also politically and culturally relevant aspects that both divide and unite under these "umbrellas". I wish there was a way out of this confusion, so that the information about this region could be easier communicated. For example just settling for one and get the media and governments in these countries to agree on using that term as a general unifying reference.

Interview with Dr. Otto E Rossler about CERN's LHC experiments - lhcfacts.org

I would feel slightly better if they did these experiments on Mars, or - perferably - in another galaxy... Since we are actually meddling with things we know (and admit) that we know (relatively speaking) little about, and it is indeed related to extreme "universal" powers. Strange that the media is not more critical to this. Perhaps the notion is that since we are roughly successful in securing nuclear power plants, then a natural next step in our empowerment might be the black holes? (Hmmn, might there be something missing inbetween there somewhere?)

  • In May this yearly is to begin at the European organization for nuclear research (CERN) one of the most important attempts of physics. The Large hadron Collider (LHC) - the largest particle accelerator of the world - is used to experience by the collision of protons more over the emergence of the universe. Largest hopes lie in it to occupy on the one hand the Higgs mechanism - a theoretical explanation model for asymmetrical behavior of elementary particles - and on the other hand the Hawking’ dematerializing theorem for black holes. The latter in particular would be a sensation, since so far nobody knows exactly, what black holes are real and how they behave.
