Counterspy Firewall Settings

  • There are a few requirements for deploying the CSE agent that need to be present prior to pushing the agents out. Below is a list of these requirements and possible issues that you may come across during deployment.

    1. Simple File Sharing Disabled

This is enabled by default on Windows XP Systems, but is normally disabled once a machine joins the domain. Please check this under folder options to ensure that it is indeed turned off.

    2. Local Administrator access on the machine the agent is being deployed to.

(NOTE: Just because someone is a domain admin, does not always mean that they are a local admin on each machine within the domain. While not common, it is possible for permissions for their account to be modified, despite the fact that they have Domain Admin rights assigned to them. You should be able to meet both of the following conditions.

    a. Able to use Computer Management to connect remotely to the agent machine from the CSE server.

    b. Able to access the C$ "\\machinename\C$"

If you cannot do either one of these tasks, please verify your permissions on the agent machine in question. If you can, please go on to check the other requirements.

    3. We require ports 18082-18090 for communication between the server and the agent.

  • Airmail is a messaging program (similar to
Outlook) specifically designed for connection to a HF radio mailbox station.
Once connected to a compatible station, message transfer is completely
automatic. On the ham bands, Airmail can transfer messages automatically with
any station supporting the BBS or F6FBB protocols, such as Winlink-2000 (www.winlink.org),
Winlink, F6FBB and MSYS and other Airmail stations. Airmail is also used as the
client program by the SailMail marine system
    and
other participating systems. A "dumb terminal" mode is
also provided but ordinary QSO's are not the program's forte.

Manage Your Customer Relationships or Perish

  • Overcoming the Hurdles to Successful CRM Implementation

Customer relationship management or CRM is the methodology and tools of finding, communicating, and retaining your best customers. Software programs such as GoldMine or ACT! or subscription services like Salesforce.com help you build lead lists, merge mail, handle contacts, and assess the results of your marketing campaigns.

Many larger corporations have failed at successful implementation of CRM. While it’s easy to blame the software or incompetent staff, the real issue lies with employee motives, time, and training. Use these success tactics for overcoming the hurdles you will encounter with CRM.

Spot Check: My own experiences with customer relationship management tools found employees are not only reluctant to adapt a new technology but outright resist the sales lead component of CRM software. For under performers, tracking leads reveals their true incompetence. I have witnessed sales personal enter in fake names and numbers to avoid the scrutiny of a sales manager. Successful implementation of CRM requires periodic spot checking of lead entries and even calling leads to see if they exist.

Make Time: Whether you are the only user of CRM software or have a staff, it’s critical to set aside time each week for using the technology. Like any new business application, regular use will reduce time and help you see the rewards of CRM.

Get Trained: A large part of setting aside time is learning the new tools of CRM. Learning typically follows a U-shaped curve with the initial phase being difficult till it peaks and learning accelerates. Be patient and in no time you will master the must have tools of CRM.

Winning the customer game with customer relationship management tools is a necessary for any small business today. The more you know your customers and build a strong relationship, the greater your odds at winning the minds and wallets of your customers in the competitive market.
