Mambot (plugin for J1.5.) that enables any component to be included on any content page (they said it couldn't be done :) This is a kind of local wrapper mambot.

How to use it: {component}url{/component} Where url is relative url to your component WITHOUT "index.php?". So url would look like this: {component}option=com_expose&Itemid=73&album=7{/component}

Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File

Iin most cases a large HOSTS file (over 135 kb) tends to slow down the machine. This only occurs in W2000/XP/Vista. Windows 98 and ME are not affected.

To resolve this issue (manually) open the "Services Editor"

* Start | Run (type) "services.msc" (no quotes)
* Scroll down to "DNS Client", Right-click and select: Properties
* Click the drop-down arrow for "Startup type"
* Select: Manual, or Disabled (recommended) click Apply/Ok and restart. [more info]

When set to Manual (or Disabled) you can see that the above "Service" is not needed (after a little browsing) by opening the Services Editor again, scroll down to DNS Client and check the "Status" column. It should be blank, if it was needed it would show "Started" in that column. There are several Utilities that can reset the DNS Client for you ... [more info]

This article was originally written for Thunderbird but it also applies to Firefox and Mozilla Suite.

MozBackup is a standalone utility (for Windows only) rather than a Thunderbird extension. It works by backing up a Thunderbird profile into a single file (named "*.pcv"), which can then be restored on the same Windows computer or a different one. (MozBackup can also be used to back up and restore Firefox, Mozilla Suite, and Netscape 7 profiles.) It can be downloaded from the MozBackup homepage, where additional MozBackup documentation is also available. The download web page lists what extensions it knows how to backup/restore.

While Mozbackup is extremely popular in the forums its recommended that if you plan on using it for regular backups that you first test it to verify that it will properly restore your Thunderbird profile.
