I was speaking to one of the best upcoming tech bloggers the other
day about LinkedIn, and how I view it. To me, LinkedIn isn’t a place to dump a
snapshot of where you’ve been. It’s an opportunity to stay connected to people,
and to demonstrate where you are now, and where you plan to go next. To that
end, I’ve got a little advice for you to consider applying to your own profile.

Simple tips for a better Twitter experience - TEDChris: The untweetable
-
With Twitter's huge recent growth, there
are numerous brand-new users of the service. If that's you, welcome. Here are my
quick tips. (Experienced Twitter users, pls add your own suggestions in
the comments section!)1. Get good at TwitterThe best way to get
search
excited about Twitter is to experiment with its search function. Try
typing anything you care about -- your home town, your company, your hobby, or
any Twitter username -- into the search box in the RH column of your Twitter
home page. You'll probably be amazed at what you see. (eg. The search
below reveals Twitter users who apparently haven't figured out yet that there's
a public search function!) -

How Twitter Will Change the Way We Live - TIME
-
The one thing you can say for certain about Twitter is that it makes a terrible
first impression. You hear about this new service that lets you send
140-character updates to your "followers," and you think, Why does the world
need this, exactly? It's not as if we were all sitting around four years ago
scratching our heads and saying, "If only there were a technology that would
allow me to send a message to my 50 friends, alerting them in real time about my
choice of breakfast cereal."
10 LinkedIn LIONs & Super Connectors You MUST Connect With! | Windmill Networking
-
There are many resources on the web for finding people to follow on Twitter. Just do a search for any particular type of
person you want to follow (student entrepreneurs? job seeker advice? etc.) and chances are you will
find a list. But why none for LinkedIn? Well, just as I have been
the first to write on other things LinkedIn-related, I think it is important to
introduce people on LinkedIn that I think you should invite and/or connect up
with. These people are either LIONs or “Super Connectors”, people with lots of connections
that are open to receiving new invites as well as helping people connect and pay
it forward. The importance of connecting with LIONs and

Super Connectors on LinkedIn cannot be understated.
The art of ReTweeting in Twitter, How to ReTweet better and cleaner
-
What is RT or RE-Tweet?
Retweeting is a popular way to share a useful or interesting tweet. When you
browse your friends or public tweet stream of information and found something
useful, you would most probably like it to share with your contacts. They might not know about it or maybe their
contacts doesn’t
know about it either. So you copy some ones tweet and append RT along with their
name and post it back into your stream for your contacts or the public.

Nine Ways to Build Your Own Social Network
white label socialnetworksThe idea of white labeling a network is to make the platform provider as invisible as possible to the social network’s users and to brand the network with the builder’s identity or intent. While definitions of “social networking” may vary, social networks are primarily defined by member profiles and some sort of user generated content.

These up-and-coming companies provide so-called “white label” social networking
platforms that enable their customers to build their own social networks (often

34 More Ways to Build Your Own Social Network

A few weeks ago we posted 9
Ways to Build Your Own Social Network, a review of several hosted,
do-it-yourself white label social networking solutions. Conspicuously missing
from that round-up were many additional companies that specialize in the
creation of social networks. These companies were intentionally overlooked in
the first post because we wanted to focus on self-service websites. In this
second post, we cover these remaining companies, all of which offer either
made-to-order solutions or downloadable software - 7 more annotations...
