How Twitter Will Change the Way We Live - TIME

  • The one thing you can say for certain about Twitter is that it makes a terrible
first impression. You hear about this new service that lets you send
140-character updates to your "followers," and you think, Why does the world
need this, exactly? It's not as if we were all sitting around four years ago
scratching our heads and saying, "If only there were a technology that would
allow me to send a message to my 50 friends, alerting them in real time about my
    choice of breakfast cereal."

The art of ReTweeting in Twitter, How to ReTweet better and cleaner

  • What is RT or RE-Tweet?

Retweeting is a popular way to share a useful or interesting tweet. When you
browse your friends or public tweet stream of information and found something
useful, you would most probably like it to share with your
contacts. They might not know about it or maybe their
    contacts doesn’t
know about it either. So you copy some ones tweet and append RT along with their
name and post it back into your stream for your contacts or the public.

Gradon Tripp I was speaking to one of the best upcoming tech bloggers the other
day about LinkedIn, and how I view it. To me, LinkedIn isn’t a place to dump a
snapshot of where you’ve been. It’s an opportunity to stay connected to people,
and to demonstrate where you are now, and where you plan to go next. To that
end, I’ve got a little advice for you to consider applying to your own profile.

    • Your Summary

Here’s where I think the most work can be done. When I look at my profile, I think it’s a bit
long, but otherwise, I’ve done the following:

      • Lead with what I do most.
      • Lead with the type of business I want to do.
      • Move into the reasons why you’d do business with me.
      • Move from there into all the nuances of what I do.

Clarity: Simple, Transparent, Social, Sustainable

What happens online can undoubtedly help shape our real-world
      future."

This election was won, in part, by the computer. And the iPhone. And the
      Blackberry.

If I ever wondered whether social media was “a tale told by an idiot, full of
sound and fury, signifying nothing” (which it usually is), this election changed
      my mind for good.

Independent Street : Social Networking: Common Mistakes Small Businesses Make

  • The article is almost counterproductive, because most businesses aren’t about
watercooler talk and social networks ARE. Picture yourself at the watercooler or
in the breakroom and THAT’S what Twitter and the rest of them are about.

You can find me at MarieMonDieu on Twitter, but not Facebook or a zillion
other places; holy cow, who has the time when I’m makin’ whoopie pies for
    sailors?

  • Take a site like ustream.tv which has simply been untapped by a lot of marketers
until lately. I would highly recommend putting a more human spin on your
business through this social media source.
    Blogtalkradio.com has also moved
forward as a leader in online communications as well.
    My best advice start
now. Keep posting on the blunders that you have made and make things easier for
the beginner to relate to. We all make mistakes, but those who have enough
character to admit it win hands down in social markets.
