Diigo Company Profile

  • An abbreviation for the “Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff,” Diigo is a social annotation service that lets users add highlights and notes in situ to any web page. These overlayed comments made through Diigo can be made either public or private; other Diigo users can then read public comments and reply/interact to comments. Diigo combines aspects of social bookmarking, full-text search, annotations, tagging, and sharing. A browser plugin allows you to share your annotations directly with others, and you can save annotated pages to numerous other bookmarking services as well.

Diigo Releases Version 3 - Beyond Bookmarks

  • The Diigo platform was developed around a utility (the Diigo browser add on) that enables people to actually highlight and perform functions on sections of or whole Web pages. The idea was and is to allow people to grab relevant content and effectively aggregate, save and/or store this data. In a very real sense Diigo transformed the bookmark into a more usable and effective data collection tool. The idea was logical and brilliant if not technologically simple. Diigo basically enables people to study and research as one would in a library – by taking pertinent pieces of the knowledge puzzle and putting them where they are accessible, functional and more easily utilized. Version 3 is the refinement of this tool with astounding new features in conjunction with a great collaborative community aspect.

Which of the Top 10 Social Bookmarking Sites should you focus on? | BuzzGain

  • 1. Most # of users: Delicious and StumbleUpon are way ahead of the pack. StumbleUpon users tend to be more casual users and the traffic you’ll get will be fast and swift. Delicious traffic is more like a simmering pot, but depending on your content can get you

    2. Topic focus: If you are an enterprise software company, Diigo and Backflip have the most users with content relevant for that space. For Music, Furl and BackFlip do a great job, and for Lifestyle topics Blogmarks is the most extensive. Its probably a function of the initial users and their likes / dislikes, but the content relevance for those topics is the most in those sites. Health related topics makes Delicious and Clipmarks the best. Finance related topics are most frequent on Furl.

    3. Speed of propogation (Virality): Although Delicious has the most users, StumbleUpon, Furl and Diigo have the fastest velocity to user traction.
