The anarchists' reaction is not new. Berlin's radical left-wing activists launched similar campaigns in 2006 when Germany was hosting the World Cup. They stole hundreds of flags in the city's Friedrichshain district and pelted soccer supporters with water bombs.

The statement, to be honest, has an ugly Egyptian nationalist flavor at the end of the day. Defending Gaza doesn't and need not to be linked to the so called "Egyptian national interests." And the 19 years, referred to in the statement, where Gaza was under Egyptian administration, are nothing that we should brag about. The Egyptian army was running Gaza like a dictatorship.
