متوسط استهلاك المصرى من الكهرباء فى الساعة هو 1500 كيلووات، وهو استهلاك قليل مقارنة بحصة المواطنين من الكهرباء فى الدول المتقدمة، والتى تتراوح بين 7 آلاف و12 ألف كيلووات فى الساعة. «لكن استهلاك الكهرباء للمصريين حيتتضاعف مرة على الأقل فى السنين القليلة المقبلة، مع الزيادة السكانية وارتفاع مستوى المعيش واستهلاك الأجهزة الكهربائية».
