Not the Fliggo replacement I was thing it might be but interesting nonetheless. Host videos taken on your iphone or desktop and share via email and/or facebook. The free version keeps them for 30 days otherwise it's $5 a month for the backedup version.
Good for getting quick feedback on videos that you don't need to keep available long term.

There are similarities here between this and AudioBoo but they seem to be using a slightly different business model. Also, the opportunity to create linked "walks" is useful, especially if you are looking at exploring a location as part of a learning activity.
I did experience some technical problems when accessing the featured walks - hopefully just a momentary glitch.

Practical tips from Tom Barrett on starting to build a network on Twitter. It's aimed at teachers who are new to it but is great advice for anyone wanting to engage with a larger community. Like Tom highlights, managing a decent network doesn't happen by magic but requires a bit of thought and effort before it starts paying dividends

This is a pretty slick piece of marketing for Evernote that highlights some of the uses the app has in an educational context. It's part VLE, part ePortfolio, part blog etc.
Although the students all have shiny looking Macs, that's a bit of a red-herring. It's the fact that Evernote can run on multiple platforms (inc mobile) and over the web that makes it such a great tool.
I also REALLY want to be able to make videos as slick as these.

Is it blogging if it doesn't come with a timestamp and an RSS feed?
Who cares? This is a great idea for helping anyone to publish online without the hassle of setting up a blog.

This looks useful. Wylio will trawl through CC archives (like FlickrCC) for images that match a search term. It then allows you to resize the image, say how iyou want it aligned to your text and then stamps it with the attribution details.
The search engine is pretty crude and you have to be quite specific about what you're after but it's a great idea for bloggers

It will conclude by reflecting on the implications of such tools for learning and teaching and suggest ways in which open, participatory and social media might increasingly act as important social and cognitive tools for learners and teachers in the future. In a recent review of Web 2.0 tools and practice it was evident t

An example of digital storytelling using a range of social media. Storify, still in beta and requiring an invite (which I don't have yet, boo!), allows a user to aggregate different items of social media to create a narrative experience on a topic.
This is an example by will Allen at JISC Netskills

Counter intuitive results to a survey by Citrix about the age of people driving social networking in businesses.
It doesn't seem to comment on to what extent the Gen Y-ers are using it outside of work and are reluctant to use it as professional tool.
