A timeline of events from big bang to present day, showing relative timescales and with embedded media. Nice, but the interface needs refining.
Online magazine showcasing stories about science and living with science.

A site dedicated to helping non-medics to put medical research into various conditions into some kind of context.
For example, searching for a condition (e.g.arthritis) lets you compare the effectiveness of treatments based on strength of evidence or number of studies which can be shown as a bubble diagram, histogram or list view.
Reminds me a bit of David McCandless' take on health supplements - http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/2010/snakeoil-scientific-evidence-for-health-supplements/

Although based on a personality type indicator not everyone trusts, this is an interesting commentary on some research into how climate scientists' and the general public's Myers Briggs scores might explain why scientists are failing to communicate the facts about climate change to a large portion of the American populace.
There seems to be a good argument for scientists using storytelling based on the facts as a way of engaging the public.

Amazing! Particular fun to change the timescales.
Like the recent map of Facebook connections, this shows links between scientists collaborating on papers across the globe.

A good round-up of some Mythbusters videos (from the Discovery channel).
Interesting from a storytelling point of view, taking a scientific idea and turning it into a narrative.

Great for showing the scale of objects or locations in different contexts.
Last week I was debating my wife about how deep the Marianas Trench was (really!). Now I know that if measured out horizontally it would stretch from Gosforth to Birtley. I would have thought it was further but then I started thinking how long it would take to walk that and trying to imagine the weight of water at the bottom of the trench.
Loads of applications for classroom/project work and for infographics.

Innovative approach to analysing scientific data through sound rather than numbers or visual representation.\n\nThese sounds are quite eerie. It's difficult for a non-particle physicist to know exactly what each of these means but it's intriguing from the point of view of using different media to convey a message or story.

Short videos about every element on the periodic table, plus other cool experiments and chemistry stuff.\n\nDigital Storytelling in use in "hard" science
