www.
Prevent Outlook with Gmail IMAP from Showing Duplicate Tasks in the To-Do Bar :: the How-To Geek
If you are using Outlook with Gmail over IMAP, you might have noticed a really annoying problem: if you flag an email in Outlook, or use the Star feature in Gmail, you'll often end up with duplicate items in the To-Do bar.
The reason this happens is because Gmail's IMAP shows the same item in multiple folders, for instance when you've labeled an email it will show up in the label folder as well as All Mail and the Inbox, even though it's the same email. Outlook can't tell the difference.

Hate Microsoft Outlook? How to fix top annoyances | ITworld
January 13, 2009, 02:00 PM — Computerworld —
Microsoft Outlook is a nearly ubiquitous presence in PC computing -- and, seemingly, a universally reviled one. Outlook has countless features, ranging from e-mail gathering to calendaring, contact tracking, to-do list creation and more -- yet its tendency toward bloat, sluggishness and unreliability can make it maddening to use.
The Internet is rife with people complaining about Outlook, and I admit that I've been mighty annoyed with the program myself over the years. But I'm ready to move beyond that -- I've found solutions for the problems that most bedevil Outlook users. So whether you hate Outlook, love it or fall somewhere in between, read on to find fixes to some of the most common problems that drive Outlook users (including me) off the deep end.
Note that I focus here on the most recent version of Outlook, Outlook 2007. Many of these fixes will work with earlier versions of Outlook, but not all of them, so be aware of that. Also, I focus here on using Outlook for POP3 mail; I don't cover Outlook used in an Exchange environment. There are simply too many variations with Exchange that are specific to enterprises for us to cover well. However, you should find that many of the fixes we offer below work in Exchange environments as well.
Use Gmail IMAP in Microsoft Outlook 2007 :: the How-To Geek
We've all been hearing about the new IMAP support in Gmail, but how do we access that from Outlook? Those of you that have been waiting patiently will be happy to know all the instructions are on this page.
Using IMAP we can synchronize email across multiple devices, since the mail stays on the server. You already stopped reading this part and skipped down to the instructions, didn't you?
Fixing Outlook Hyperlink Problems
Sometimes you don’t realize how much you appreciate a feature until it breaks. One example is Outlook hyperlinks in an email. It’s so convenient to click the link in the email and have the correct web page open. What I dislike is when a hyperlink in Outlook doesn’t work and I get some error or no action. Below, I’ve listed 3 solutions to this link problem.
Open Two Different Instances Of Outlook With ExtraOutlook
As long as Outlook has been around, people have been trying to get two instances running at the same time. Not multiple profiles that you can load when starting Outlook, but two separate instances running concurrently, each with their own associated profile. After all, Outlook (even 2007) only lets you connect to a single Exchange server per profile... And that sucks.
What would be great is to have one instance connected up to your "business" Exchange Server, and another connected up to your "personal" Exchange Server (and of course, to other people's Exchange servers who don't you know have an account on their box ;).
If you've tried to do this, you've found that no matter what you do, you can't run two (or more) Outlooks at the same time, even if you try renaming .exe's, using command-line profile specifications, or any other tricks.
However, while futzing around one day trying to get two Outlooks running, I had what I thought was a great idea -- I'd configure a separate profile for Outlook under a different user account, and then use "RunAs" to launch Outlook as that user, and all of my dreams would come true. Boy, was I excited.
Well, it didn't work. In fact, it didn't work so well that it scared me.
When Outlook was launched via "RunAs" (no matter whether I executed Outlook.exe in a secondary "RunAs" command prompt or directly from the the interactive session), what happened was that a separate instance of Outlook did indeed launch, but it displayed the "concurrent" user's folders and NOT those of the user used to RunAs - no matter how you launched it! If during this time you viewed Task Manager, you would find that even though you saw two differnt windows running, and though you could interact with them individually (meaning, you could open different sets of folders in each separately, but they were for the same user) you only saw one instance of the .exe running. The first thing I thought was "Voodoo!!" I then said to myself, "Self, even though you launched it in a completely different user context, it hop

Outlook Addons - 6 Ways to Get Social with Outlook | MakeUseOf.com
Let’s face it, the 2 main constants in the working world are Blackberries when it comes to mobile and Microsoft Outlook when it comes to stationary. With Flock taking over the Social world for the browsers, Outlook support is getting rather social too. Here I want to go over a bunch of useful Outlook add-ons and toolbars that can make it more social and add to overall experience.

The first from LinkedIn is a toolbar, but it heavily integrates with Outlook. The simple and advanced features include; updating your Outlook contacts with LinkedIn profile information, receive notifications of profile changes, one click invites, mini-profiles in the emails, updates for your “network” and more. If you really use LinkedIn and have Outlook this is a must have.

Plaxo - Outlook Add-on
Similar Outlook add-on comes from Plaxo. Plaxo actually has slight integration with LinkedIn and you are easily able to add your LinkedIn friends to Plaxo, so it’s all a matter of which you prefer (or both). With Plaxo’s new Outlook add-on with Pulse, the new “social stream”, which integrates your “Connection’s” streams from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, etc., makes Outlook your ultimate source for following your friends and news. Like LinkedIn’s add-on, it keeps your
