Apart from genetically predisposed breast cancers, which are very difficult to control at present; there are many other factors, which can be controlled effectively to prevent breast cancer development. This was discussed in San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) presented by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Scientists claimed to have discovered a molecule that can kills cancer all together, in fact, it can wipe out some of the most deadly forms of the disease. Read ore; http://clinicianonnet.blogspot.com/2011/12/attempt-to-eliminate-cancer-stem-cells.html
The researchers have noticed marginal increase in incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer after thipurine use for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases like Crohn's disease.
Trachelectomy or cervicectomy is surgical removal of the uterine cervix. The uterine body is preserved in this type of surgery, where a lady wants to preserve her fertility; of course, in selected younger women with early cervical cancer.
Trachelectomies, broadly, can be of two types; simple and radical. Radical is "Radical vaginal trachelectomy (RVT)" and also known as the "Dargent operation" and "Rradical trachelectomy".
The word radical is used when some other tissue adjacent to cerxix are also removed.
A simple trachelectomy refers to the removal of the cervix; this can be considered to be a very large conization procedure.
Radical trachelectomy is considered in case of women of age ≤40 years with a desire to preserve fertility; and in stage IA2 or mild stage IB1 disease i.e. tumour less than or equal to 2 cm in largest dimension and has not spread to lymph nodes.
However, it has not been considered the standard of care yet; hysterectomy is the standard of care.
Conization is considered the standard treatment for less advanced cancers (stage 1A1).
This surgery can be performed Robotically to minimize human hand error in precision of surgery.

A number of structurally diverse histone deacetylase inhibitors have shown potent antitumor efficacy with little toxicity in vivo in animal models. Several compounds are currently in early phase clinical development as potential treatments for solid and hematological cancers both as monotherapy, and in combination with cytotoxics and differentiation agents. Recently, researchers found out the way Fascin suppresses the molecules those hinder metastasis and on the other hand up-regulates certain other who help metastasis of cancer.
The researchers demonstrated that fascin expression in breast cancer cells can be targeted as a potential therapeutic intervention in metastatic breast cancer treatment. Read more; http://clinicianonnet.blogspot.com/2011/11/mechanism-of-distant-spread-of-cancer.html
Now-a-days, more people are likely to spend most their time sitting in a day. They either go for some exercise or take excuse for duration of work in their office. Many also find out time for regular exercise for sometime in a day and spend rest of time idle before a computer or TV.
It is seen that mere routine exercise of 45 minutes or 1 hour per day may not be just sufficient to curb chance of catching cancer or other diseases related to sedentary lifestyle. Read more; http://clinispot.blogspot.com/2011/11/more-activity-than-just-routine.html
Less frequent testing for cervical cancer is recommended in 2 separate proposed guidelines.
1. One from the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPTF), and 2. Other from the American Cancer Society (ACS); working in collaboration with the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP); and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Results from the longest-running trial comparing tamoxifen with the aromatase inhibitor letrozole show unequivocally that letrozole has withstood the test of time and continues to prevent breast cancer recurrences and reduce the risk of death in post-menopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer. Viruses are being developed to localise only in the tumour cells and kill those.
Broccoli contains many natural chemicals that can reasonably alter the course of some dreaded diseases.
Among those:
1. Cancer breast and adverse effects of cancer chemotherapy.
2.Stomach cancer by suppressing the the microbe H. Pylori.
The sprouts also contain antioxidants, which can help in many ways.
It is an insulin sensitizer, but unfortunately has been seen to have bad effect on urinary bladder in long term use.
Cannot the harmful effect producing fraction of molecule be silenced in some way, so that a good drug will remain in the armour of the physicians?
"Charity begins at home" is very much correct. Here is a model of house to friend, for our fight against cancer.
To add a few more to the list;
1. Good exhaust in the kitchen that effectively cleans out the gases and vapour formed during cooking is also important. They cause a lot of harm to lungs.
2. Use of steel cooking utensils is an important practice, as utensils made from aluminium and teflon coated ones has been seen to be hazardous for health through their constant mix up in food while cooking.
3. No smoking at home.
4. Provision for adequate sun light that can help to synthesize vitamin D, which has the ability to fight several cancers. Direct sunlight also kills many microbes.
About one in eight American women get breast cancer at some point in their life, with less than a quarter of them dying from it.
Many medical evidences suggest that those women who take more fibre in diet are less likely to suffer from breast cancer.
There has been a lot of buzz whether to circumcise a baby or not. Some follow it for custom/ritual and many do not follow it, if seen in global perspective.
A compound, niclosamide that has been used as a drug against tapeworm infection for about 60 years is also apparently effective against colon cancer metastasis, as studies using mice have now shown.
Unfortunately when the features of colon cancer becomes apparent the cancer is late in most of the cases, though may not be too late. There are several types of the colon cancers. Those can be polypoidal, constricting type or ulcerative type.
Because the features appear a little late to suggest an underlying colon cancer, screening is most important.
A lot of Styrene and Formaldehyde are in day to day use. Let us be careful about use of these compounds.
Scientists find new drug target in breast cancer. Researchers have identified a new protein involved in the development of drug resistance in breast cancer which could be a target for new treatments,
