Seeing as how mobile devices and related technologies have completely overtaken a good chunk of society already, naturally the education sector has followed suit
I was recently involved in a conversation about how difficult it now is to filter what is on the internet and research effectively. In the past, students would primarily use books to research; being overloaded with possibly unreliable information wasn’t really an issue.
In November 2011, The Boston Globe had a panel on "cyberetiquette." We met in a theater at Boston Globe headquarters. On the stage was a moderator, a Globe reporter, and two of the Globe's regular "advice and manners" columnists. And then there was me, there, I suppose to represent the cyberworld and where it might take us.

Wkipedia is a great educational resource for both teachers and students. Its articles appear almost always in the first four links of the search results. It is an incredible treat to sit and learn from MIT undergraduates. In the last few weeks, I've listened to lectures explaining special relativity (did you know GPS satellites fall behind Earth time by 40ms a day?!?), learned recursion in CS programs by sorting class members into physical lines by height, and used a forensic investigation of a car crash as a vehicle (ha!) to study acceleration. They are doing a fabulous job, and it's been a delight to see the world through their eyes: filled with passion for exploring the world around them.
ISTE recently released its annual policy priorities for educational technology. The focus of this year’s position is quality over quantity, naming three simple, powerful, and obtainable goals for 2012. The goals described below offer ways for all of us to get involved—not only policy makers, but also administrators, classroom teachers, and parents.

Likes?) and ran a contest to try and get as many submissions as possible.
Microsoft has made some significant changes to its Bing search engine that sees it finally add a social dimension through a long overdue (and deeper) integration with Facebook. This could be the start of a process that will see perhaps Hotmail and Messenger integrate more closely with Facebook.
