I was recently involved in a conversation about how difficult it now is to filter what is on the internet and research effectively. In the past, students would primarily use books to research; being overloaded with possibly unreliable information wasn’t really an issue.
It appears since the arrival of iPads that the PC it is no longer the cutting edge technology that it once was. My blogs aim to investigate the use of this handheld technology in primary education, in particular Spring Cottage Primary School's 'iPad journey' and look at some of the apps that can be used across the curriculum to engage, motivate and inspire children's learning in the classroom.
There are so many free online tools out there that are fabulous to use in the classroom. These tools can potentially allow your students to create, collaborate, communicate and express themselves in a multitude of ways.
From initial charges that ‘it;s just an overgrown iPhone’ the iPad is now part of many teachers’ and schools’ essential kit.
But it’s fair to say that while Apple has created a beautiful, robust and powerful piece of kit finding the best apps on the App Store can be a challenging experience.

This is a series of scratch programming lessons for every year group from Year 1 to 5. Year 6 will be coming shortly but the premise of this is that I work on it to get it a bit tighter in terms of progression and pitching it just right. The thing is, if your school doesn't have a specialist teacher then it might be best to rip them apart and mix and match as you see fit.
I am currently collaborating with a fellow teacher, Simon Collier on a free weekly e-mail that we will distribute throughout the year.
Each week the email features a useful online tool or website for teachers to use in their classroom.
We've been working hard to feature the best educational resources which work well on interactive whiteboards in the classroom. The resources are organised by subject, age group and category to make them easy for you to find. We are constantly updating the web sites listed here to ensure that they are current.
