When the new Apple TV arrived, I couldn't wait to hook it up...after all, it would magically transform...well, I don't know. I just knew I needed to get one to fully take advantage of my iPad. Unfortunately, after digging to the bottom of a small box, I realized I was missing a critical component--an HDMI cable. At least, I thought that's what I was missing.

ENIAC was originally created with the intent of calculating artillery firing tables for the Army’s Ballistic Research Laboratory.
The ginormous, 25-ton computer contained 17,458 vacuum tubes, 7,200 crystal diodes, 1,500 relays, 70,000 resistors, 10,000 capacitors, and 5 million hand-soldered joints, producing a total power consumption of 160 kilowatts. In a single second the computer could calculate 5,000 additions, 357 multiplications, or 38 divisions. Back in the day, the calculating computer was $500,000, which totals about $6 million today, adjusted for inflation.
In our world of education, most teachers continue to educate themselves so that they can keep up on the ever-changing life as educators. Some things we get a little credit for and others we just do quietly behind the scenes. So it is nice when a company comes along and gives us a little credit where credit is done. Atomic Learning now offers Certificates of Completion for some of their courses.
Playing around with Evernote--which I'm coming to fall in love with, albeit a bit late in the game--it occurred to me that sharing Notebooks of content with the world one at a time was cumbersome. Since dlvr.it was fresh on my mind, it occurred to me to try copying-n-pasting the Evernote shared notebook url--such as the one below--into dlvr-it and see what happened.

This is an example of building a tree layout using the Reingold-Tilford "tidy" algorithm, as described in "Tidier Drawings of Trees". As each new element is added to the graph, it animates in, starting at the previous position of the parent node. Thus, the existing nodes and the new node transition smoothly to their new positions. The animation stops when 500 nodes have been added to the tree.
This is a simple site that allows you to show your work when solving equations (no - the computer won't do anything for you!). Right now we are still in the beta testing stage. Eventually you will be able to "published" your work and then copy it over into a document, post to a web page, or email a link to your published work
