School principals and district administrators are more likely than the general public to be adopters of smartphones and tablet computers, according to a new report based on data from the 2011 Speak Up survey.
There’s a new product that just came out of Disney Interactive Labs — a video portal for clips, movie trailers, and even a collection of curated YouTube videos, all designed to be watched online or on any of your mobile devices.
Over half of all devices at this year's CES, the world's largest consumer electronics trade show, were Internet connected. Nearly 60% of those were non-traditional computing devices such as TVs, cars, refrigerators and washing machines. Connected devices are proliferating throughout our homes and the world around us. Which means consumers are about to become a whole lot more connected to the world.
At Mankato Public School System in Minnesota, students bring their homework, their lunches, and books to school like most students across the country. But they also bring whatever tech devices they own — and they don’t have to hide it or turn it off when they walk into class.

A major learning: digital dependence. 38% of students can’t go more than 10 minutes without checking in with their laptop, phone or ereader. If they’re using it so frequently why not using them as textbooks to a much bigger extent than it is now?

I really like the sounds of this initiative. Principal and Vice-Principal putting their money where their innovation is! It might even push a staff member to acquire an early Christmas gift just to participate! It will be interesting to follow this initiative and see how it impacts on their School Improvement Plan.
