Dropbox has just announced an update to its self-named service that provides new public sharing links. This update, which appears to be an end-run against the imminent launch of Google's competing Drive app, makes it possible to share read-only folders with anyone -- regardless of whether or not they have a Dropbox account.

When I first read the description of MagicReader, I thought it was just too good to be true. A reading app for iPad that flips pages with just a turn of your head? No way. But then I remembered that the iPad has a front camera, and the app must be using it to detect faces and the necessary head movements. I was right.

If you've been putting Evernote through its paces on your Android device, a new update adds a few more bells and whistles. First, the outfit has integrated speech-to-text transcription to go alongside its existing audio notes feature. Don't worry, the original audio is also attached to each note and the new tool can be disabled for sound-only reminders. This feature only works with Android 4.0 tech and "certain other devices" though.
