Easy navigation in Eclipse Galileo
Eclipse Galileo introduces several features that allow you to quickly navigate your Java™ technology projects. When combined with existing features, you can get around quickly even in the largest projects.
Introducing Apache Mahout
Once the exclusive domain of academics and corporations with large research budgets, intelligent applications that learn from data and user input are becoming more common. The need for machine-learning techniques like clustering, collaborative filtering, and categorization has never been greater, be it for finding commonalities among large groups of people or automatically tagging large volumes of Web content. The Apache Mahout project aims to make building intelligent applications easier and faster. Mahout co-founder Grant Ingersoll introduces the basic concepts of machine learning and then demonstrates how to use Mahout to cluster documents, make recommendations, and organize content.
JSF 2 fu, Part 3: Event handling, JavaScript, and Ajax
Java™Server Faces (JSF) 2 Expert Group member David Geary wraps up his three-part series on JSF 2's new features. Find out how to use the framework's new event model and built-in support for Ajax to make your reusable components all the more powerful.
JSF 2 fu, Part 2: Templating and composite components
Java™Server Faces (JSF) 2 lets you implement user interfaces that are easy to modify and extend with two powerful features: templating and composite components. In this article — second in a three-part series on JSF 2's new features — JSF 2 Expert Group member David Geary shows you how your Web applications can best take advantage of templating and composite components.
JSF 2 fu, Part 1: Streamline Web application development
With version 2.0, Java™Server Faces (JSF) makes it easy to implement robust, Ajaxified Web applications. This article launches a three-part series by JSF 2.0 Expert Group member David Geary showing you how to take advantage of the new features in JSF 2. In this installment, you'll learn how to streamline development with JSF 2 by replacing XML configuration with annotations and convention, simplifying navigation, and easily accessing resources. And you'll see how to use Groovy in your JSF applications.
Introducing Slony - O'Reilly Media
Slony is the Russian plural for elephant. It is also the name of the new replication project being developed by Jan Weick. The mascot for Slony, Slon, is a good variation of the usual Postgres elephant mascot, created by Jan.
An Introduction To JBoss RichFaces | Javalobby
This tutorial article will give a very quick introduction to JBoss RichFaces. Instead of just listing features, we are going to briefly define RichFaces and then dive right into an actual step-by-step example. In this example, we are going to go beyond the standard “Hello World” type of example. We will come back to this in just a moment.
Ganglia and Nagios, Part 2: Monitor enterprise clusters with Nagios
This is the second article in a two-part series that looks at a hands-on approach to monitoring a data center using the open source tools Ganglia and Nagios. In Part 2, learn how to install and configure Nagios, the popular open source computer system and network monitoring application software that watches hosts and services, alerting users when things go wrong. The article also shows you how to unite Nagios with Ganglia (from Part 1) and add two other features to Nagios for standard clusters, grids, and clouds to help with monitoring network switches and the resource manager.
