Google SketchUp

Google SketchUp is 3D for everyone
Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create, modify and share 3D models. It's easier to learn than other 3D modeling programs, which is why so many people are already using it.

We designed SketchUp's simplified toolset, guided drawing system and clean look-and-feel to help you concentrate on two things: getting your work done as efficiently as possible, and having fun while you're doing it.

Timelines.tv - History, documentary & television on the web

Timelines.TV is the website companion to a BAFTA award-winning television series. On Timelines.TV you will find four series of documentary videos arranged chronologically. There are three series about British history; social, political, and imperial. There is one series about the American West in the 19th Century. You can browse for videos using the timeline at the bottom of the homepage or use the drop-down menu at the top of every page. I've only had time to watch videos from the American West series, but if the rest of the videos are as good as those that I've watched, Timelines.TV is a high-quality production.

All About Explorers | Everything you've ever wanted to know about every explorer who ever lived...and more!

ll About Explorers was developed by a group of teachers as a means of teaching students about the Internet. Although the Internet can be a tremendous resource for gathering information about a topic, we found that students often did not have the skills to discern useful information from worthless data.

So we set out to develop a series of lessons for elementary age students in which we would demonstrate that just because it is out there for the searching does not mean it is worthwhile.

  • The Internet and the everyday use of social networking technologies, together with the expansive growth of corporate entertainment media and the integration of popular culture, also require us as social studies educators to link participatory media literacy with civic education.
  • If we hope to make learning relevant and meaningful for students in the 21st century, social studies classrooms need to reflect this digital world so as to better enable young people to interact with ideas, information, and other people for academic and civic purposes

CivilWarSallie

My name is Sallie Ann. I was made in Gettysburg PA, and I’m named after the mascot of the 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry from the Civil War. My job is to travel around the U.S. looking for Civil War battlefields or museums and schools learning about the Civil War. Along the way, I hope to teach kids more about the Civil War while also helping them to learn about using technology. I’ll start out in Gettysburg, PA ,and learn about the battle that took place there. My visit to you will last about one week, but before I leave, I hope that you will put something from the battlefield, museum or your school in my backpack so I can keep it as a memento of my visit.
